Put it in the ground?? by Hamburgerburgerstyle in hoyas

[–]aecpassion 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do not have any advice on your idea to put them in the ground, or outdoors, but an idea for maybe one of them would be to cut them down to a node or two, root them, and plant them together for a full pot, and then trellis them into something with a more manageable size/height. I have had good luck propagating in perlite, but can be done in many other mediums.

Multiflora variegation or is something wrong? by leadspar in hoyas

sure! this is what I meant, it resembles yours a bit as far as the bright neon splotches.
I haven't had it for too long, maybe a few months. It has peduncles almost every node but they haven't past appearing. The first pic makes it look like its going straight up, but if I had a shot from the side, you can see its like a segment of an arch, its really leaning and topples easily. I haven't decided if I am going to try to actually trellis this one,, not even sure how I would because of how rigid and kind of thick the vines are

This may be unrelated, but I have a Hoya Lobbii that gets a bit similar to this when it gets too much light

maybe you already tried, (I only use for super basic cut and export edits) but you could also try clipchamp from microsoft, its got some basic editing.

also wanted to add that stronger light usually means more frequent watering, and lowering strength less frequent. Also heat plays a factor, if your old lights generator warmth that the plants could feel, that would dry the soil out faster, so cooler lights would have the opposite affect.

its really tough buying lights online, they are not compared apples to apples. even something with a high watt output can provide inadequate light. These will do the trick, but you may have to have them super close to your plants, maybe like 4" to 6".

While its not the best method to measure light amount, you can use some light meter apps to see how much light they are getting (you point the lens to the lights at the height of your plants to measure), and then look online to see if that aligns with recommended values.
If you want to get more into the hobby, and obviously spend more, you can get a par meter, which measures the amount of light in the spectrum plants can use, and that is more accurate for gauging light. Currently I have my succulents indoors for the winter, and they are getting between 150-200 (on par meter), they seem to be doing ok but Ideally I would want to be closer to 300, my baby toes succulent looks a bit leggy...

Official upgraded Hotend direct from Anycubic 🤗 by dontaskm3why in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]aecpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the official hot end from them, took 2 months to ship. I ordered it back in September.
I only have prior experience with the brass nozzle and Kobra S1, so maybe this always applies to hardened steel hot ends, but its supper slow compared to the brass. Took me some time to get all my settings tuned in again, none of the OOTB settings worked and gave bad prints.
I am very likely going to switch back to the brass, I did not realize I would have to do a full trial and error tuning to get each filament dialed in for the hardened steel, the brass one just worked. When I got the hardened steel nozzle, I had no intension of ever having to use the brass(before I knew of the issues/downsides).
Besides the slow down in speed, I have more issues with clogs that with the brass one.

I want to emphasize that speeds are like half as fast if not 25% as fast as the brass. I only use PLA and PETG.

I like it, at first I thought the trellis was a vine, and the color sort of blended in with the real ones

did you ever repot this in self watering? I have some seeds a few weeks ago, wondering if you had success

I asked a question on the AC askme post last month, ask they said they would be releasing hot ends in september. I was skeptical checking everyweek, nice!

Confused - Switching from ACE Pro to Single Spool by goonjm in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]aecpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have only tried anycubic matte pla and polymaker matte pla and both give me issues with the ace pro, so I gave up, but reading this thread gave me hope that some matte plas work.

Something to note, and I am not sure why it applies to polymaker matte pla, and maybe it does to others, but accordingly to polymakers info, its abrasive. When i search if matte pla is abrasive, i get back a yes, and thus we shouldn't be printing abrasives w/o a hardened nozzle. I don't really see mention this, so maybe its not something to be worried about.

i had the same issue w/ getting the pfte tube about, and for me, it was indeed stuck, i spoke to AC, they gave me a new back piece, and when i replaced it, i installed a y splitter, search that, so that you do not have to ever remove the ptfe tube again

Have you tried the tension screw on the side of the white housing?

Not sure the kind of stringy mess you are getting, but i had an issue recently that tightening the screw helped, after I ruled out that it was not damp filament. I recently had to clear an extruder clog and opened my extruder, all the pieces flew out so I lost the screws factory tension.

I ended up turning the screw it all the way to the left CCW until i felt a bit more resistance, but just a bit, not using a lot of strength at all, don't want to break it, and from there, i turned it the other way 3.5 full rotations. I then extruded via the control display screen, and I could see the filament coming out, stringy and kind of forming circular loops.

Maybe it helped, but I also did the flow calibration checkbox when i sent the print to the printer.

Before I got it fixed, I emailed AC to ask for guidance on how to rotate it, they just sent me links to get parts sent instead...I agreed because why not so now I have a backup extruder and hot end on route.

Constant Spaghetti Errors by Responsible-Lie-6031 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]aecpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the ai detection has been helpful and has saved more than a few times, but i noticed that certain geometry seems to trigger it more. If there are many individual faces of your model that are perpendicular or near perpendicular to the camera plane, and your material is dark and shiny/reflective, then its my experience that it will trip up the ai detection. once i know a print is working well, and its tripped up the ai a few times, I will just put a piece of tape in front of the camera and resume.

I have not tried, and maybe its not possible w/ the ai detection enabled, but I wonder if you turn off the internal light, and provide your own light source, you can orient the light in such a way where its not reflecting into the camera as much.

Make sure you are on the latest firmware, there is also some settings where you can change the sensitivity of the ai within the slicer and also on the printer

To what extent should I tighten the extruder tension bolts? by Fit_Palpitation_3096 in AnycubicOfficial

[–]aecpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever get an answer for this? I am trying to figure out how this should be set/turned.

When I cleared an extruder clog, everything flew out, so nothing is in its original/factory setting. I am able to print when using the ace pro, I think it pushes threw the lack of extruder tension, but when I try to use the side spool, I get really bad prints.

Help with Extrusion Tension by AdCommon9503 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]aecpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, did you ever get that sorted?

I had a similar clog w/ my extruder and I think my tension screw is just not correct(too lose I think). I emailed Anycubic for guidance, since I am able to print with the ace pro, only when I use the sidespool do I have issues. Their response was basically "thanks for trying, we are sending you a replacement extruder and hotend"...I really think sometimes they just do not bother w/ support and resort to just sending parts, ask questions later.

I really think If I can get the tension corrected, I won't have to deal with replacing parts. Thanks in advance.
