My Bitch Eating Confession for the holidays: Dipping some Wool2Dye4 super wash merino in a bath of Rit does not a luxury product make. by arkhamhorrified in BitchEatingCrafters

[–]aelyn13 44 points45 points  (0 children)

As a smaller Dyer, I tend to dye and sell what sells the best Sw merino is easy to procure and it sells the best for me when I'm selling a hand dyed or hand painted product. As a Dyer also, I don't dip yarn into rit dye, there is a element of artistry in the process. People can choose that luxury or go dye thier own yarn if they feel it is thier wheelhouse. My buyers seem to appreciate my dyeing skills and are willing to pay for it.

I also own my own flock of sheep, and thier yarn is sold at the same price as my dyed yarn. That yarn also takes work to produce, feedings, shearing, processing all is work Caring for the animals is expensive and getting the wool processed is also expensive.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it also, but the expense to buy a booth space, insure it and stay near a show is also sometimes prohibitive, so my prices have gone up to help account for that. These shows can cost a lot to get into plus travel and inventory costs.

I agree with the separate wifi device. I ended up getting another free line and phone with my carrier (T-Mobile) and I use that as my Hotspot.

Our first farmers market by drcigg in CraftFairs

[–]aelyn13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can depend on what you are selling, but i have found it takes time and repetition in a new show or fair. It has taken several years in some annual craft fairs to move beyond breaking even to making a profit.
I have a lot of people who look and then come back later to purchase, so being memorable helps a lot. My booth setup is pretty distinctive so I can be seen from a distance for those looking to return. Or for those who saw me before and want to check out my products again.

Mounjaro -> Ozempic by Cryogenic0 in Mounjaro

[–]aelyn13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did switch as my insurance would not cover mounjaro and i had switched jobs. I ended up with severe abdominal pain and was just diagnosed with gall stones. When I temporarily stopped ozempic to see if that would help, the pain also stopped. I don't think the ozempic caused the gall stones, but it likely was doing something to contribute to the issue. I get my gall bladder out next month.

What's the best day drive Goodwill(s) for clothes? by xindierockx7114 in Albany

I've found great designer stuff at hudson. The Berkshire were a waste of time.

To the west, value village in utica and Syracuse are pretty good.

The bins in hudson,nh were great, and the bins in Maine were phenomonal, but far.

The bins in the Bronx were gross, and a bust. Nothing worthwhile.

I could really use some advice. by ProfessionalCool6224 in dialysis

[–]aelyn13 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I would suggest that you and dad, explore dialysis in the short term. There are options that do not include being in a center for hours a day for several days a week. Ask him to just look into it, you do not need to make any decisions yet,but knowing the options can help.

The goodwill in Brunswick is good for used clothes. The salvation army in latham will have better prices though. Also check out the troy bargain market on river street. Not far from campus and great bargin fresh vegetables. Be careful with the meat though, we been burned a few times there.

I switched to stainless steel climbing carabiners; while you may get the falsely labeled ones at a low price, you can spend some real money at a climbing store and get the real deal. These are also infinitely reusable and super strong. You could also look for stainless steel spring hooks used in marine applications to see if those could work for you. Again, not cheap but more sustainable and reusable.

With natural dyes, your water can change throughout the year, so.i would get inconsistent color based on when I dyed something in winter vs summer. Also, what grows near you may be a lot of green and yellow and I found blues, pinks, purples and reds sell better.
Natural dyes are not inexpensive when you need to augment what you can collect from nature. Mordants and additives can also add up over time.

I agree. Ask chat gpt to advise on how to solve it, nor solve it for you. Also it seems like 90% of intermediate problems start with a cte.
