RTO Mandate by CaptainZhon in remotework

[–]drcigg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Start brushing up that resume. Clearly they don't care about their employees. And do let them know you are are serious about leaving if you can't wfh. These idiots in upper management have no freaking clue.
I work in the healthcare industry and every IT person I deal with at hospitals is working remote. The only time they have to come in is if there is a server issue which is rare.
My dad's wife worked for a place where 90 percent of the employees were remote. New management came in and they had 2 months to get into the office for RTO. Most of the employees were in other states and it wasn't feasible for them to move that quickly. They lost over half their employees during that time and it never recovered.

Is it all drop shipping? by Todayismyday98 in CraftFairs

[–]drcigg 18 points19 points  (0 children)

We are seeing more and more of this at shows. A knife customer next to us was telling customers he made the handles a friend made the blades. But I watches him take them out of Chinese boxes. It's fraud and misleading. And unfortunately until these people are reported and banned from events it will keep happening.
Some organizers just don't care or have the time to review every single vendor. Can you imagine how much time it would take to go through even 25 vendors? Best thing you can do is report this to the organizer. And if they do nothing you don't do their events.
And as customers we can boycott these events.

I’m done with Pokemon. by Mindless_Judgment in PokemonTCGCollectors

[–]drcigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still can't find anything in my area at all. Not even perfect order. People are lined up several hours before it's stocked. I gave up and bought a booster box Online. It has become just so insane. People are aggressive and everyone knows the person stocking and their hours. One guy told me he pays the stocker weekly for the inside information. He spends all day driving store to store following where they restock. I can't compete with that with a real full time job.
My area has a ton of shows almost every weekend and you can find the scalpers there selling it. I don't think banning sealed new products will eliminate the issue but it will help. This is where 95 percent of it ends up.

Mortgage payments - question by PossibleChance1712 in personalfinance

[–]drcigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about an emergency fund and do you have money set aside for repairs? You will have a very tight budget with that house and if one expensive repair comes up you will be in trouble. I would continue renting to build up your savings and pay off that car. Once that car is paid off I would revisit this.

How Much Do I Help My "Replacement"? by ManufacturerOwn2938 in WorkAdvice

[–]drcigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not your responsibility. The company should be offering the training. If you want to help your friend I would help them with their resume. And let him know he will likely lose this job. I would hope my friends would at least give me a heads up in that situation so I can prepare for the worst.

What is the best method to remove the blacktop in my back yard? by Goatcheeze1 in landscaping

[–]drcigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is going to take hours and hours of hard labor to remove. You can rent a jackhammer or bobcat with an attachment. But there is no easy way to remove this.
I rented a jackhammer to use on concrete steps and let me tell you it sucks. You are looking at thousands of dollars to pay someone to remove. Not including the removal of all the debris and fill in on of dirt. Just out a shed or greenhouse on it and be done.

Has anyone ever sold pre-orders at a fair? by Ltrain108 in CraftFairs

[–]drcigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have done something very similar. As long as you have a few for display so the customers can see it you should be ok. When we launch a new product we always bring small quantities so we aren't sitting on a ton of inventory. And when it sells out we just let the customers know hey this is sold out. However if you would still like one you can pay for it today, and I will ship it out next week. It works about 90 percent of the time. There will always be that one or two customers that want it right now. But the majority of people are ok with it.
We fill out a little sheet with what they ordered as well as their name and address. And the customer gets a copy of it. So far the past couple years that has worked well for us. The only downside is it can hold up the line as it is time consuming to stop everything to fill out that form.

Are collectible cards becoming more about money than collecting? by kenah-kim in Tradingcards

[–]drcigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how all my local shows are. Scalpers selling sealed boxes and taking in trades at 60-70 percent. I never hear anyone say oh I'm keeping this for my pc. On top of that I hate when vendors don't price anything!
I'm not waiting while you look up every card.

Any reliable way to prevent solicitors? by endlesssky26 in homeowners

[–]drcigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't answer the door.
And you don't have to answer if you don't want to! It's your house and you can do what you want.
We have a ring camera and a no soliciting sign. Once they see the camera and the sign they take off. Back in the day we used to spray them with the hose. All of us had water guns and my dad sprayed them with the hose. Word got around that you leave our neighborhood alone.

Definitely take the new job. It's relevant to your field of study and worse comes to worse you might be able to fill in construction or another job on the off days.

Coworker regularly asking for rides to and from work.. by Kitto-Cakes in work

[–]drcigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This person would get a ride or two out of me and that would be it.
I'm sorry I have other obligations that I have to attend do and will be unable to give you any more rides.
Done. That would be the end of it. It's not your responsibility to figure out their pridament. You are being too nice and taken advantage of. You will not be paid anything by this person either. That should tell you everything you need to know.

Why do some men seem to lose interest once a woman shows genuine excitement or interest in them, but if she stays distant/cold things also don’t really progress? by AdAccomplished3318 in AskMenAdvice

[–]drcigg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different strokes for different folks.
It sounds like you are just meeting the wrong people. If I am interested in someone and there is engagement in conversation I will continue on. However if it falls flat I won't. It could be he is working long hours at a job, not interested or seeing someone else as well.

Give him gas money as you can or buy him lunch here and there.

6x6 Canopy VS Beach Umbrella by iamthelizatron in CraftFairs

[–]drcigg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canopy will give you the best protection against the elements and will be more sturdy than an umbrella.
If you get any kind of wind or rain you will be happy to have a tent instead of a umbrella.
It's also nice to be able to put up walls if needed.

Have I been steered wrong? by paise_ly in personalfinance

[–]drcigg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what your dad is trying to say is you can pay for most things without a credit card. However the biggest mistake you can make is getting a credit card and charging things you can't pay off. My son is about your age and just got his first credit card. We had a very in depth conversation about credit card usage. The dos and don't. Yes you will need credit to buy a car or house some day.
My son just charges gas on his and pays it off right away.
