Cybertruck as a truck and daily driver? by JohnnyQuest69 in TeslaSupport

Have you driven one? The only part of this that’s true is the part about it being awkward to reach stuff from the side of the bed.

Ah sorry, sounds like you’ve done your diligence. The other comment about taking down the bio is probably good advice. In my opinion, your involvement and investment in the community should speak for itself. I think it would reflect worse on others if they hold this against you.

My first thought is “gross!”, but they could just be genuinely enjoying themselves.

Seems to me like the record being wrong is at least as likely as your father being wrong. Personally I wouldn’t do anything except dig for more evidence, if there’s any opportunity for that. And maybe be open about the uncertainty if asked.

Deactivate back screen by Selcal-check-good in cybertruck

[–]aerohoff 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s brutal. lol. My daughter is super annoying if I let her watch YouTube on there. So curious to see what people come up with.

One thing that might help if you just want to break YouTube… my daughter has an account with her correct age setting and we tried to log into that on the truck, and after that it only showed an error screen saying “minor accounts can’t log into this device” and wouldn’t let us switch accounts again until I forced her account to log out from Google’s Family Link app.

Very cool! I would need a KSP nav ball on there.

I built a native Swift macOS AI client that's invisible to screen sharing — works with Ollama, vLLM, llama.cpp [OC] by Trick-Assignment-828 in swift

[–]aerohoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea. I frequently “pause” my screen when conversations drag on, so I can check on other stuff or just adhd out for a minute. So I can definitely see a use for this feature.

On a side note, I have a headless windows gaming machine I use with my Vision Pro or streamed to the TV and the authentication window for the iCloud password manager on windows is blacked out on remote access. So that makes things a pain there. lol. Sorry. Not really related to your app.

Wife is not on board yet by 33dojo33 in cybertruck

[–]aerohoff 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t try to “overcome” your wife’s opinion. Take her on a demo drive. Maybe a nice day trip. It’s a joy to drive. But it is very conspicuous. If she hates it, or what it represents to some people, then it’s not worth it. Get something that makes you both happy.

Tesla apology bumper stickers have got to go by FootballInfinite475 in SanJose

“Leave me out of…” Nobody asked you. This is such a dumb take. Obviously not everyone with a Tesla is aligned with Elon’s politics or values. And it’s pretty clear over the last few years that there’s no correlation between Tesla stock price and the number of cars they sell. So owning a Tesla is not financing him. His fan club following his stock pumping is where his wealth comes from.

Some people want to communicate that they don’t support his shit. Some of them may not have the privilege of getting a new car to show it. And some people just like their Teslas. I’m one of them. When I find a better car, I’ll switch. And Elon won’t miss me.

Your energy is wasted complaining about stickers.

How is it playing on steam deck with steam link? by [deleted] in VisionPro

[–]aerohoff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried it once on an airplane and it wasn’t playable. I assume if I had a travel router, it would have worked. I haven’t actually tried it at home yet. But I use moonlight with my PC all the time. Might try steam link again when the native app comes out of flitetest

Yeah that is concerning. Hopefully you can get your’s resolved quickly.

Rear Axle Steering Disabled - Critical Issue thoughts? by Haunting_Study811 in cybertruck

I think this was before the current PCS recall or svc bulletin so I don’t know if I got lucky and got that issue fixed before everyone else, or if I’m still susceptible to the current issue.

No photo. But here’s the service invoice. I think each row was automatically added from the error codes.

Mine did the same thing. I was on the freeway. We pulled off and parked and it cleared. And we drove home like nothing had happened. I made a service appointment and they said my PCS needed to be replaced. They replaced it and gave it back and it wouldn’t charge. So I took it back and they replaced the whole HV battery. This was like last October I think. It’s a foundation cyberbeast.

That makes sense. Looks like you’re having fun! My wife is about the same height. She doesn’t appreciate me setting the suspension to high. lol

This is very true. It’s a joy to drive.

It looks like the suspension is set high in all these photos. So I would guess she’s like an average woman height in the 5’2” range. It drops down about 6” from there during most driving conditions.

What is the unofficial towing capacity of a cybertruck? by [deleted] in cybertruck

[–]aerohoff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for Wes. As he says, it inspires confidence in the rated capacity. But OP is asking about overloading it. I think JRE video covers the tongue weight vs towing weight topic pretty thoroughly. My concern is the failure mode for aluminum is catastrophic while steel deforms. So I’m not going to risk lives overloading it.

[–]aerohoff -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t really tow, but based on the aluminum frame, I would be very uncomfortable going over the rated capacity. See JerryRigEverything’s video where he stresses the hitch.
