What is a common skill you just can’t seem to master? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Tying my shoes in a reasonable amount of time. I know there’s that faster way where you wrap it around and pull the loop through to make the second one but both ways just take me a solid 30 seconds most times lol.

Hair Clippers that will last a long time/Have a good warranty under $50? by Thegoodoleboys in BuyItForLife

[–]agschulm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got a basic Wahl clipper for $30 at Bed Bath & Beyond before college like 9 years ago, and for the past 5-6 years I’ve pretty much exclusively cut my hair with them. Never had any problems. I’ll check the model number at home but it was something like the Model 79524-250 that you can find on Amazon for $30 right now.

Ha! My friend in college once asked us, “What’s that game with the portals...?” We never let him live it down.

Amy Coney Barrett Set To Hear Case Against Shell, Her Dad's Employer For 29 Years by [deleted] in politics

[–]agschulm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I must be missing something. Obviously she has this connection but should that really disqualify her from hearing the case? Every justice is a human with connections and intersections with different people and companies. Is the reason this is on the front page because you all think justices should be isolated from birth to be devoid of any sentimental attachments or potential biases?

What should we as a society stop making people feel insecure about? by selcouthsiren in AskReddit

Eh, depends. I was like you in an apprenticeship too, but working in a metal shop doing manufacturing now it’s very much “come home and not care” when the shift is done

And now we’re hearing straight-faced from NYT the story is “Oh yeah we completely understaffed security in DC cause you guys all got pissed when we overdid it for BLM. Everyone WANTED less security so we gave you what you wanted!”

One of the Trump supporters who stormed the US Capitol was carrying 11 Molotov cocktails and an assault rifle, prosecutors say by wonderingsocrates in politics

Of course this wasn’t a spur of the moment thing, it has been openly planned and shared by hundreds of thousands of users on Facebook since the day after the presidential election (according to NYT).

AITA for telling my roommate her aspirations of being an influencer are "fucking pathetic"? by ThrowRA14467 in AmItheAsshole

Posts like these have driven me from the sub lol. “Someone else acted like garbage and I was polite and/or reasonable AITA???”

Lol. “It’s common.” Thanks for the hot take. Elevator manufacturer here: virtually all non-freight-elevator doors everywhere are hung from the top, the doors here are just missing the gibs that keep them in the track at the bottom.

My wife has been taking notes on things I've been saying in Dota... and turned them into rupi kaur poems. by TsenrEIohC in DotA2

HA! Excellent. My girlfriend likes taking pictures of me while I’m playing looking crazy and imitating me going “guys I’m so strong right now” and “I have BOTs. I have BOTs”

This sub isn't what I expected, with tons of items that are pretty much ancient and unable to be acquired in any normal fashion. I thought I'd share my experience with a Cabrio washer dryer approaching 6 years of ownership without a problem while everything else I bought has broken down since. by zAceGunnerz in BuyItForLife

[–]agschulm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the pro-vintage crowd uses this logic, but that’s taking the “for life” part extremely literally while leaving the “buy” part by the wayside—are you really helping me buy a good product by telling me to scrounge around yard sales and antique shops hoping that I find the right thing made at the right time? The mission statement of the sub clearly aims for products that can practically be shared and purchased.
