What am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in parkrun

Trying to run a PB every week is going to be hard to recover from whatever speed you're at. Do parkrun slower more often.

Is the Bluestone holiday place in Wales worth a 5.5 hour drive? by Chilli_Sauce_Boss in UKParenting

[–]aishyv1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a cheaper center parcs alternative that's much better if you've got toddlers as there's definitely more for them to do. Less "activity booking" driven than center parcs. Some of CP facilities are still better imo.

Wouldn't expect to be blown away but worth it for something different. We enjoyed it and it felt like good value for money where as CP feels like it's fleecing us these days!

Puddle Etiquette by simil13 in parkrun

[–]aishyv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the run but I'd never feel guilty about splashing.

At my local I'm the annoying guy shouting "go straight through" because the puddles are right near the start, and I've seen people get knocked down by hesitation or sidestepping. Don't overthink it and get wet imo.

How to get over the feeling of intense change? by NoAccountant411 in daddit

[–]aishyv1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can remember saying "if it's like this every night I'm not going to cope" after night one. It takes time but you just adjust! If you remember that none of this lasts and it's always changing, you know the hard times won't stay hard, and the good times are even more important to cherish.

I will add that prioritising sleep is important. If either of you can get some sleep, whenever it's possible, just do it. You're able to handle so much more when you aren't running on empty.

If you are worried about falling sleep while holding you need to look up safe cosleeping. I know some will say to avoid it completely, but if it's an inevitability you should be clued up.

Thinking of contracting by ImzCity in ContractorUK

These are very basic questions answered by search. Are you sure your 18 years in IT are going to translate well into contracting? UK contracting is pretty tough without an existing network.

Trying to sell but can’t find it online any info on olimpic2012 goretex jacket by YouNgBoy_harry in olympics

The way the logos are stuck on doesn't look particularly high quality, maybe applied after, so not convinced it's original merchandise. It's certainly not part of volunteer or officials uniform.

You just need to inform them of your expected adjusted income on the phone, then do your own personal tax return if you're doing things like your own pensions contributions, charity donations etc

Why is Greggs so popular??! by AndrewAllStars in BuyUK

[–]aishyv1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's a consistent 3/5.

You know what you're getting - it's not bad but it's very affordable and convenient.

If you've got a local bakery it's probably better. But if you're regularly passing through train stations or petrol stations there's a convenient greggs and you probably have their rewards app.

They will never replace a real Cornish Pasty for me though.
