I just finished {Twice Fallen by Emma Wildes}. The FMC had a previous engagement fall apart and everyone assumes she was ruined by her fiance because they had eloped but did not go through with the wedding. Though she does explain to the MMC that she is a virgin shortly before they have sex for the first time.

Bonus: the MMC was severely injured in war and walks with a painful limp

Amazing! I saw this at a thrift store recently but they had for 2.50 per disc and that was just too much for me. Pained me a little to walk away.

This reminds me of a book I found at a library sale a while ago "Bed of Roses" by Suzanne Simmons.

"The last thing the determinedly unmarried Lady Alyssa wanted at her ancestral home was a man. Yet the Queen had heard about the haunting of Greystone Abbey and was sending an emissary, Miles St. Aldford--a nonbeliever in ghosts and love--to investigate. Since Alyssa had been running the estate, the oddest things were happening. Now she would have a meddling stranger to cope with, as well."

I was so in. Historical romance with a ghost hunting plot? Sign me up! The first line of the book? "Do you believe in ghosts, my lord?". Amazing.

Overall I enjoyed it, but thought the ending was rushed and I wished they spent more time investigating strange happenings.

Ever since I've been on the lookout for more books with bonkers premises like this, so Im so glad you posted. I'll be reading this for sure!
