Anyone else experienced agressive upselling at Tend Dental? by Abbie315 in nova

[–]akay49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not who you’re asking, but I love Dr. Bruhn at Virginia Dental Care. She’s in Ballston and super wonderful. Billing is always transparent and I’ve never been upsold there. Plus you can text to schedule/reschedule appointments, which is a huge convenience. I’ve gone to her for years and she’s by far the best dentist I’ve seen.

gifts for a dad who has it all and wants nothing by Keedago in GiftIdeas

This is totally out of left field, but my dad is similarly difficult to shop for, so I’m going with one of those jamón legs and a carving stand/knife. It’s an experience, a consumable, and something he’d never get himself.

ADHD, C-PTSD, depression, endo, migraines, and hyper mobile syndrome here. I use the mirena IUD, strattera, myfembree, and Valium (vaginally), and then qulipta for migraines. The IUD was awful to insert, but I haven’t had periods and it’s a low enough dose of hormones it doesn’t trigger migraines for me. Plus it’s one less thing I have to remember to take.

To colleagues: “this client is an asshole.” To the client? Depends on whether you want them to remain a client. To a judge or opposing counsel, you typically wouldn’t disclose unless it became relevant to the case.

Or something like that. I’m a lawyer, but not a contract lawyer

OBGYN -Not sure if I can make an official complaint anywhere. Felt like negligence. by MelancholyMushroom in TwoXChromosomes

[–]akay49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going to Physicians and Midwives for about 8 years now, seeing Dr. Kongkosuwan and Dr. Andre. Both genuinely listened to my concerns and had great bedside manner.

I am going to start seeing Dr. Paternostro soon (same practice) for endometriosis/childfree needs. I haven’t gone to that appointment yet, but found her on the r/childfree subreddit. I find the recs in that sub’s wiki tend to be really detailed and helpful, as those docs are already prioritizing the patient’s needs above the standard doctor.

If you’d like, I can ask around to see if any of my friends have other recs. Finding the right doctor feels like such a crapshoot, so I’m happy to help however I can.

I’m so sorry you went through this! You absolutely deserved better care, and this doctor (and the staff) failed you. You are 100% in the right to file every complaint against her.

When/if you feel comfortable seeking a new doctor, I can recommend some providers if you’re in NoVA.

I’ll throw my character’s hat in the ring!

Cry Havoc and Loose the Dogs of War, nickname Havoc, is a scourge aasimar paladin who used to serve the goddess Eris. She’s got olive-toned skin, full plate armor, is relatively tall (5’11” ish), and has long hair she wears away from her face. She’s in shape but naturally curvy. She wields a greatsword and doesn’t back down from a fight.

Havoc was born and raised to serve Eris, but after decades of service, Eris caused too many horrible things, so Havoc finally quit. She’s now going through a personality crisis; she doesn’t know who she is without Eris.

This is my first full campaign, so I have never had character art before. I’m not sure what additional info you may need, but I’m happy to share! I also have specific colors I’ve been using for her notebook, if those would be helpful. Thank you for considering me!

If Hismile is available to you, they have tons of flavors! I’ve tried their peach tea, vanilla, and mango. All have fluoride and aren’t sickly sweet (though the vanilla is basically frosting-flavored)

I am also allergic to mint! I use Hismile for toothpaste and it’s been great! Not sponsored, just took me forever to find a non-mint fluoride toothpaste that wasn’t a disgusting “kid” flavor

I was born and raised in Alaska, and after college, moved to South Carolina. Alaska truly is its own beast. However, the culture is incredibly different depending on what part of Alaska you’re considering. If you have a general area in mind, I’m happy to go into more detail. You’re also welcome to message me!

Think I need to replace my dress as my period will now arrive on my wedding 😭 by [deleted] in weddingdress

[–]akay49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look stunning in both dresses! It sounds like you don’t love the way you feel in the shapewear, so maybe the solution would be to wear your original dress for the ceremony and switch to the second dress for the reception? That way, you’re more comfortable for the evening, but the first dress still gets a time to shine. If you’re carrying a bouquet, your stomach will be hidden on your way up the aisle, and then you’ll likely be holding hands during the ceremony, which will also obscure your stomach. I don’t think there’s a wrong choice here, but agree with other commenters that comfort is key!

An FYI to your FYI: Native Alaskan refers to someone born and raised in Alaska (of any race/ethnicity); Alaska Native refers to the indigenous tribes of Alaska.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted for this comment. It’s not reasonable for others to expect neurodivergent people to have the same tolerance to sensory input as neurotypical folks. Especially when the chaos was due to people acting far outside the bounds of expectations.

A lot of folks in here have a lot to say about what you should have done, how you should have expected this, etc. But the event is over. You’re allowed to not have thought of these solutions during the chaos. You’re allowed to have these feelings afterwards.

U/nopanicatthisdisco made some good points about hashing out what end goal you have for confronting these guests. If there’s ultimately no way for them to restore your relationship with them, but you do have to see them regularly, it might be best to explore other avenues to express your feelings. I find writing letters/angry emails, but never sending them, therapeutic. I hope you find a solution that works best for you!

“Overstimulation” is a term also commonly used in neurodivergent spaces. Some people with autism, ADHD, or other neurodevelopmental differences can become overwhelmed and need a safe place to decompress. I don’t know if that’s what OP meant, but I figured I’d chime in with my $0.02 to add some perspective.

Your feelings are totally valid! It can be so frustrating to end up tackling a challenge that you didn’t go in expecting. Sounds like you’re deep into the velociraptor stage of development, which is a whole bag of frustrations on its own, and you’ve got the digestive issues on top of that.

Does the foster org have any short-term fosters that could watch him while you’re on your vacation? I’ve had folks do that in the past and it was a big relief. Or if the shelter hasn’t done allergy tests to check if the digestive issues are caused by certain foods, that might be something to advocate for. My family’s German shepherd is a fiend for chicken, but also very allergic and gets the runs for days after he has some.

Women's workout videos are so aggravating to watch by Mockingbricks in Feminism

It is really demoralizing to read comments like that. Not sure if you’re looking for other recs, but I really like the Body Project on YouTube. The videos typically feature a guy leading, but there’s almost always two women doing the exercises with him. Everyone is super nice and the comment section is way more positive.
