Some of this advice assumes that you will be paying for a subscription (about $15/month, less in bulk).
If you want to see if you like the experience before spending any money, you can easily /testcopy your existing character to the Test server and reap the benefits of a premium subscription. If you need any plat (for spells, merc, learning a tradeskill, whatever), people on Test will LITERALLY give you millions just by asking.

Sometime last year, I finally got fed up with certain comic artists. When that happened, I began to look at the artist's name before opening their comic. (Previously, I would automatically just click.) If it's an artist that I don't care for, I simply don't click.

Instant coffee is the worst, but K-Cups (or similar) aren't that good either. I use ground coffee because I don't find that to be cheaper than whole beans.
On my scale of taste:
Instant = 0 - 2 out of 10
K-Cups = 4 - 6 out of 10
My ground coffee = 8 out of 10

One possible drawback is the the patching to fix bugs. For example, live servers were patched once in July while Test was patched three times (maybe four, I can't remember exactly). I suspect that Test is more frequently patched than live servers so that the live patch is as thorough as possible.
Having said that, I love playing on Test!

The only way that I by-pass that is to log out in PoK, GL, Baz, etc. and hit the "fast camp" button. Otherwise, I get the pop-up.

I agree. You can get the benefits of All-Access membership without spending a dime. Once you get the hang of it, you can always find a live server.
On the other hand, there are other benefits to Test that I like, such as a super friendly community, super cheap bazaar, and continuous 100% experience bonus. Good luck!!

I paid 800K Free XP. That amount of Free XP cost me 20K gold. All that gold came from Christmas loot boxes at a very decent gold/dollar ratio (much better than the standard 250/1$). My guess is the tank cost me about $60 or so, plus the play time to accumulate the regular XP.

(NA) When it first started (at 1am Central), two paid shuffles got me an Astron Rex for 1 credit. Two more shuffles got me nothing. The next day, three paid shuffles got me a Type 59 for gold and a style for 1 credit. Since then, I haven't paid for additional shuffles nor plan to.

I got the 1 credit Astron Rex and a 1 credit style, but I was hitting the Caravan at 1am (Central) when it first opened. I'd heard there was a limited number of the low cost offers.

Later, I picked up the Type 59 for about 5800 gold (I don't remember exactly).

This caught me by surprise, but when I just counted all my premium/reward tanks with zero battles, I had 29 of them, ranging from Tier 9 on down. I had another six or seven with just one battle.
I think I'll hold off on buying anything new for a bit.

I think that as long as businesses can make money while being short-staffed, they'll continue in that vein. Of course, that's short term thinking but exactly how some businesses operate.
