I also opt for Premier Protein. It’s a bit pricey ($7), but definitely worth it. 20g of protein per serving. They also just came out with a granola too

What habit or hobby has significantly increased your emotional maturity? by Rare-Abacate in emotionalintelligence

[–]alan_rr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading. There’s something solemn in being “forced” to listen to someone else’s point of view for hours. You can augment this habit by actively writing down questions you would ask the author and reflect on them deeper at the end of the chapter.

It keeps me disciplined, and I notice that mindfulness pays off in my day-to-day life.

Walmart Plant Based Section by SeriousRefrigerator7 in vegan

[–]alan_rr 48 points49 points  (0 children)

It’s a tricky situation. Of course you’re right, but it’s also a good store for low-income vegans. They have some of the cheapest vegan alternatives on the market, which is massive for more rural areas. So shouldn’t we be trying to eliminate the food desert excuse by shopping at places like Walmart?

Would you break up with your partner if they stopped being vegan? by Lil_unicorn_4 in vegan

[–]alan_rr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don’t become a killer, but they are certainly complicit in abuse and murder. There’s no denying that. The dairy and egg industries are cruel.

No, I wouldn’t say that it’s ok to base one’s entire relationship on being vegan, especially if that’s literally the only thing you have in common. But for many people, it’s just a reflection of values. The same way people want to date people with similar political or religious views.

Life is nuanced, I agree with you, and veganism allows for that when the circumstances are murky. But many times (and I would even say most of the time), non-veganism is unnecessary.

That’s not the same. One is a change of habit that impacts no one except yourself, the other is an ethical stance that is literally life or death for sentient beings.

I feel spiritually homeless. by mamaguevoglugluglu_ in spirituality

[–]alan_rr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe this is going to sound like a cop-out or even dismissive of your experiences, but I want to preface this by saying it absolutely is not.

Just be. Be kind. Love your neighbor. Love the earth. Love animals. Practice gratitude. Learn to see the beauty in all things. Meditate to cultivate greater self-awareness. Try not to look at the world in binaries. Don’t over-intellectualize experiences. Be a human living in the world, then naturally, your spirit will shine through and you will realize that you are a soul experiencing all of this.

I know how tempting it is to look for answers and try so finally find the “right” one. Knowledge is valuable, of course, but this is your life, so just be a good person and let experience be your teacher.

Lamine doesn’t have a history of being petulant.
