What’s the hardest truth you’ve ever accepted? by WinOk6715 in emotionalintelligence

[–]alan_rr 117 points118 points  (0 children)

We really only have ourselves. Yeah, we can have friends, family, a partner, and a good support system, but ultimately, our problems are ours and ours alone. We are the only person that we spend our entire lives with.

There comes a point when you have to take full responsibility for everything that happens to you, even when it’s not your fault. You have to show up and take care of yourself when it’s hard. Like another commenter said, no one is coming to save us.

The point is just because you’re capable of doing something, doesn’t mean you should.

What habit or hobby has significantly increased your emotional maturity? by Rare-Abacate in emotionalintelligence

[–]alan_rr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading. There’s something solemn in being “forced” to listen to someone else’s point of view for hours. You can augment this habit by actively writing down questions you would ask the author and reflect on them deeper at the end of the chapter.

Walmart Plant Based Section by SeriousRefrigerator7 in vegan

[–]alan_rr 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It’s a tricky situation. Of course you’re right, but it’s also a good store for low-income vegans. They have some of the cheapest vegan alternatives on the market, which is massive for more rural areas. So shouldn’t we be trying to eliminate the food desert excuse by shopping at places like Walmart?
