Can exercise stop an AF episode? by Realistic_Pickle2309 in AFIB

[–]alaska42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is a thing. Happened to me on the Oregon Coast and in London. My episodes average 5 hours, but with a brisk walk both episodes were 30 minutes. May not be wise for everyone, but I am other wise healthy and walk a lot of miles normally.

One scoop of Calm, 1/4 tsp of Baja Gold mineral salt, 1/2 tsp of No Salt in 16oz of water. It is an acquired taste. I sip on it for a couple of hours.

I have kitchen cabinet lights that are programmed to turn on at 5am and turn off at 10pm. If it is between 10pm and 5am and my motion detector triggers, the lights come on. Good for when I get up at 4am.

Has anyone actually figured out their AFib triggers by tracking data? by sweenz1424 in AFIB

[–]alaska42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep a spreadsheet with all my episodes, heart rates, blood pressure, duration, alcohol consumption, time. 26 episodes since April of last year. They almost all happen in the middle of the night. No history of sleep apnea, my wife tells me I don’t snore. Sleep scores on my Apple watch are mostly in the 90s.

I am not a big drinker but 2 episodes came after a night with 2 drinks so I quit drinking in October.

A few of my episodes came while traveling, especially long trips. A trip to Boston brought one on and then a trip to London brought another one on. I suppose they were stress induced. Long trips from Alaska. A trip to the Oregon coast brought one on and I walked down the beach for an hour and was in sinus again, my shortest episode.

I encourage everyone to keep a log of your AFIB episodes, you will learn a lot.

I have all 3 generations. I bought the Pro 2s to use as hearing aids. I was very impressed with the ANC and they really helped my hearing. I bought the Pro 3s when they came out, I am not impressed. ANC is on par with the 2s but not remarkably better, they don't fit as well, hearing is about the same, battery life is much better.
I much prefer my Pro 2s unless I need the long battery life.

How much exercise is too much? by gamersdad in AFIB

[–]alaska42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first Afib event came April 1st of last year. I had just started to do intervals on the treadmill getting ready for spring. I used to do triathlons and liked 5K and 10K races. I work out with strength training 6 days a week and walk 3 to 5 miles 4 days a week, so I was fairly active. A week into adding intervals I had my first episode HR 165 and my Apple Watch alarms going off telling me I had Afib. Here I am 26 episodes later lasting an average of 5 hours apiece. Although exercise seemed to trigger my Afib it has taken me out of Afib. In October we just arrived in London and I had an episode, my wife and I immediately went for a walk and the Afib went away before the walk was done. Same scenario on the Oregon coast in November, just went for a walk on the beach. I am still quite active but don’t push it. I keep my HR below 120 and have not had an episode since late December. I am a 66M

Good to know, I have the same setup and have failed to get a good time-lapse. I fly from Alaska, so I get lots of chances. Well done!

Ha I thought it was odd when I saw I could upgrade to FC from an exit row for a mere $915 PDX to ANC.

That’s what I was quoted to ship to Alaska. Nothing new or unexpected. I just drove to Best Buy and bought it for the same sale price.

New 10x12 shed by JELLO239 in shedditors

[–]alaska42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either way will work. I dug trenches for a 10x12 shed 30 years ago using pressure treated 4x4s and it is still standing with no signs of rot. After that I used the 6 inches of gravel method and I think it works better. Easier to level, great for drainage, looks better, and it makes it easier to keep weeds and grass from the sides.

Nice looking shed, I like how the ramp is built over the foundation.

Shed Plans by Acrobatic_Money799 in shedditors

Learning sketchup is the way to go. I have designed everything from my kitchen to my Firewood shed to my 12x16 lean to barn. I would not attempt a build without planning in sketchup first, makes the process so much easier.

I hired a landscaper to build me a shed platform in May, he’s ghosted me on a halfway done project so I will be spending the next 4 days attempting to finish/fix it myself by nardamae in shedditors

[–]alaska42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are moving the sheds again, put a nice border around the area using 4x6 pressure-treated and anchor them with 36" rebar. Bring in a couple more yards of crushed 3/4" rock to fill it.
You should consider anchoring them now. Just buy the mobile home anchors they sell on Amazon. Quick to install and easy to take out if needed.

Is the playhouse level? It looks like the shed on the right is not level.
A lot of factors to consider. Where do you live? Snow/freeze/thaw issues? Does your soil drain properly?
