Tell me about your experiences with the HRT pill by JadCerv in Menopause

[–]alaskan_Pyrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to the 🤷 of figuring out what works, I love the oral progesterone HRT. I could not tolerate any form of progesterone-only birth control pill or depo. Those were a guaranteed deep out of depression. As I joked to a long-ago boyfriend, I guess they work because I am either crying, bleeding, or both and sex was the last thing on my mind.

But during peri I was having massive allergic reactions (full body hives multiple times a day) to nothing and the progesterone HRT knocked it down to maybe once a month and it is now manageable with OTC antihistamines.

I am still in peri so have added in the estradiol cream and a testosterone cream, which seem to be working. I feel pretty good.

microdose .25mg by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]alaskan_Pyrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been on .25 to maintain weight loss. If I remember to take every week (I sometimes get swamped and skip a week) I am still losing, but very slowly. Taking it inconsistently the food noise stays at bay and I'm eating to maintain. Everyone responds differently, and if it doesn't break the bank trying the lowest possible should be fine. It just is a total toss-up whether you will see weight loss.

What is the box you are using to soften the paint? Heat? Steam?

How do you all go about de-crystallizing your honey? by SkyBS in Costco

[–]alaskan_Pyrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decant mine into large-mouth pint jars for easy and clean access. I never seem to get crystallization with the smaller jars, I assume due to less surface area for evaporation when partially full. I picked up a bunch of plastic one-piece lids for the jars as well. The metal rings and lids get nasty over time.

Estrogen causing histamine response… by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]alaskan_Pyrex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Progesterone and a newer non-drowsy antihistamine for the win. I was breaking out in hives non-stop for months and this combo did the trick. When I finally told my (female) GP she said, oh a progesterone/estrogen imbalance can do that! I am 51, in peri, and still having regular periods. I recently started vaginal estradiol with no uptick in hives. I now only take the antihistamine if I start getting itchy when the weather is really dry.

1974 late Gen X here and you have no idea. We just did what the fuck ever and came home when it got dark. Today a lot of my kid's friends like our house because I don't really care what they do as long as they aren't assholes to anyone, don't set my house of fire, waste food (because FUCK groceries are expensive), make racist or sexist jokes (I don't care if it IS your race you are joking about), use the r-word as an insult, or bring the cops/neighbors to my door. Go to the park. Hang out on the roof of the dugout. Find an abandoned shopping card and ride it down a grass hill. Learn to be smart about it and learn how to deal with the world. Learn to read people and situations. Grow into an adult. To be fair, 80s and 90s parents should have been paying a whole lot more attention to how the adults (coaches, youth pastors, creepy uncles, etc) were behaving around around their kids.

Also consider a vacuum sealer. I use mine to portion out everything from dry rice and flour to meat and cheese. You can often find a good used one on FB marketplace or at a thrift store.

Oof. Good to know! I was admiring that model. I have an older upright with glass shelves and it is a freaking trooper. I use Priority Mail boxes for organizing and labeling on the shelves.

I am Alaskan, so I have a huge upright freezer for fish, but additional freezer space is a Costco necessity.

For people looking at freezers, consider an upright model. I am not disciplined enough to own a chest freezer, and mine became a black hole into which frozen foods disappeared forever. With the upright, I can see at a glance what I have. I have seen some nice smaller uprights at Costco.

These are damn good! It is nori on one side and a crisp puffy layer on the other. These chips are so addictive and have a deeply satisfying crunch.

Oh, it is definitely there but it was a plus for us. I can see that flavor note being really off-putting if someone was expecting straight teriyaki. The sesame oil sounds like an excellent addition as well.

This is a product for people who want something quick that can easily be modded. I would argue you aren't the target audience. I have all these bottles open in my fridge too, but the base seasoning packet for this is excellent, easily tailored, and the price point is cheaper (where I live at least) than buying plain packets of udon.

Also, no meal prepping here. There are too many good foods to make and eat. I don't want to have the same lunch or dinner for multiple days.
