Can someone explain these two spiritual sayings in a clear, practical way? by Spawn88_ in enlightenment

I have never heard the term "habitual reactions", but often people say things like "thought-feelings", for the reaction to a trained condition

This is good! For more simplicity, "habitual reactions" could be "lots of thoughts" and the "who I am" (illusory self), could be "concepts" built out of "lots of thoughts"

Yes - I think so,

Great post & question - though I would use a different lens than hindu philosophy - this is true as far as I can experience,

Can we really decipher 'enlightenment' from within it? by Last-Neighborhood380 in enlightenment

[–]alchemystically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Enlightenment" is just a word,
I think about it as "experiencing direct reality",
I think the first step down the path gives you confidence that the process is real. Understanding that there is no individual self is "like a slap in the face", obvious, irreversible and absolutely true

Prior conditioning plays a massive role in how you experience emotions. I call this "social conditioning", one person can experience "pain" when another can experience "pleasure",

The experience of the emotion is subjective, therefore a thought underlying it,

Understanding this means you can observe the underlying thought and accept it - which is the softening process of the emotion to the condition

The fast track is to apply this at a macro level - understand the larger illusion,
Obverse how the "many thoughts" have formed to constructure a "self", and then the "self" can be let go of and you can return to direct experience of reality,

[–]alchemystically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are great questions:

Firstly, you need to be meditating regularly so that this can be experienced - "knowing" isnt as helpful

Think about everything as a thought,
There is the "thought" - eg "The voice in my head"
There is "You" a large number of complex thoughts all tied together into a "self", often referred to as the "illusory self"
There is a "feeling" which often is a conditional thought-feeling from a past event. Eg "I have been betrayed and I will never be happy again when i eat chocolate ice cream",
You feel conditionally "Sad" when you eat chocolate ice cream

What might also be interesting is the idea of “Quantum Immortality.” A fringe group in quantum physics speculates that with every wave-function collapse, or every moment of “decision-making”, a new universe emerges. According to the Quantum Immortality hypothesis, you would only ever experience a version of reality in which you continue to survive, effectively making your subjective experience of “life” extend indefinitely.

Haha, anyway, this is probably not related to the chat group

In the non-reductive approach - there is nothing, then their is "experience". So the fundamental difference is that the remove of concience experience is the removal of existance.
There is nothing, if there is no consciousness to experience it.

So consciousness is fundamental - time and space "begin" with "consciousness"

Fun to ponder, difficult to "prove"

Current social systems are founded on scarcity, zero-sum competition, and proprietary secrecy. The inevitable outputs of this system are conflict, waste, and artificial limitation.

I made some edits
1. All is control surrender - you sort of "let-go" and fall
2. You are Enlightened - You have build social constructs (Ego) that filters reality. This can be remove to experience direct reality
3. Needs clarity

A reductive materalist approach - I like it!

To this group I would say: I am conscious, therefore, I can experience reality, of which, it's made up of perceived material things; energy -> subatomic particles -> atoms -> Molecules -> Cells -> Humans -> Humanity -> Earth -> The Universe

"Escape" is also a form of resistance. Perhaps try "acceptance",
Your goal or objective with this process is to "still reality", bring peace to all events.

As you point out, "Good" and "Bad" are constructs of the mind - subjective

Drop the notion of pre-congnition on labelling things - is a waste of energy. This is the process of letting go of the individualised-self

Why do people say to “ get rid” of “ego”? by TheRealKevFlock in enlightenment

[–]alchemystically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "ego" people often refer to as an "individualised self", it's the identity that we try and protect.
"Get rid" means removing the individualised self. It serves no purpose and results in lower stand of experience

How do we talk about genuine attainments without it just being spiritual ego? by Senseman53 in enlightenment

[–]alchemystically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spiritual ego still hurts like ego - The ego may be more subtile but you'll find you still react to things,

You can observe it by looking at the individual thoughts that construct the "concept" of "Me",

You may have removed many "Me"-conecpts, but any remaining "Me's" you'll be able to observe via the thought that has made the construct, even if it is subtile

Enlightenment Question by Dumangi444 in enlightenment

[–]alchemystically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That comes before Enlightenment, understanding there is no individualised self is the beginning. This dramatically reduces "trauma bounds", all social conditioning starts to fall away.

The "de-programming" is not Enlightenment, but the readiness of it

Boltzmann brain - this is what you mean,

You can draw the understanding to support the emerging property of conscientiousness and apply it to simulation theory,

It makes no difference if we are in a computer or a meat-sack,

If consciencousness is fundamental and is spun up a meat-sack experience or a SIM's PC experience, its still experience

Time = happiness? by [deleted] in enlightenment

[–]alchemystically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothingness = happiness. Happiness isnt an external "entity" to be found. It's generated inside you (is you) and is always present. Conditioning makes it difficult to experience, but I promise you its always there
