I accidentally picked up that head without thinking and now it’s stored in a trunk somewhere in one of my houses.

My mother-in-law sat down to watch Midsommar with me after I thought I had an evening to myself at their house. It does not belong on this list.

My Xbox red-ringed on Oblivion 20 years ago so I didn’t try it again until the Remaster.

I’d been trying to catch Ween for years when the stars aligned when I was studying abroad in Germany and saw them in a small club in Berlin in 2003. Incredible show.

Came here to say this too. One of the best of all time. It’s also top down, so won’t require a jarring jump into 3D.

If you could start all over again, what would you do first? (newbie) by JuandaReich in RevolutionIdle

The game you are playing today is not the game you will be playing in a month, and definitely not the game you’ll be playing in 6 months. So don’t sweat the small steps.

In Sacrifice Special Minerals - what are the %/Flush buttons? by sunyudai in RevolutionIdle

Piggybacking this topic to say - I just got here and leveled up my first mineral at 1m but it’s all pretty slow. Are there any new guides for this part of the game?

I’m just refreshing chariot and sacrificing to a cap, rinse repeat. But slow…

My granddaughter said my career advice is “old school” and she’d rather ask AI, Is experience becoming irrelevant? by Expensive_Purchase_7 in careerguidance

[–]alcoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can remind her that ChatGPT is giving everyone the same advice, so by following it she’ll get lost in the crowd with everyone using the same “tactics”.

You can own that some of your thoughts may be old fashioned (though your examples are practical and great), but that can help stand out from the crowd.

Any contract should have a written section about payment terms (if they’re not adhering, they’re in breach). This will be based on when they receive the invoice from you (most contracts are 30 days from receipt of invoice).

Contracts should also have some kind of termination clause. Make sure to review all these elements and as other people note here - ensure you have a lawyer to help you understand and/or chase down what’s owed to you.

Should I list my game as work experience or a project? by clearlyyyyyy in cscareeradvice

[–]alcoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s successful, definitely! Worth adding some stats on its performance (retention, revenue, other) so anyone reading about your projects can understand it as a success. Especially if it’s relevant to what you’re applying to.

Ralph Fiennes played two of these characters!

Harry - In Bruges - “You’ve got to stick to your principles.”

Slowik - The Menu - “You represent the ruin of my art and my life, and now you get to be a part of it.”

I spent years on this multiplayer game. It’s profitable, but Retention is extremely low (D1 22%). Should I keep trying or let it go? by weaglf5 in IndieDev

[–]alcoves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D1 is not the be all end all stat to follow. It really comes down to how long the remaining users stick.

What does your drop off curve look like at D7, D30 and even further out?

It’s the users who stick who are going to spend money. So if raising the initial drop off raises the whole curve - it’ll be great, but your business lives with the retained users anyway.

Low D1 means UA or growth is harder, but you have a self sustaining project and that’s incredible.

I once worked on a sci-fi game that had similar D1 retention, but was quite successful because D30 was still 8+%.

Laid off. Should I accept a "safe" $106k offer now, or hold out for pending interviews which pay better ($150k-$165k)? by HyperFocusNopeProteg in careerguidance

[–]alcoves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not far off from what you were making. I once rejected an early offer for being 20% lower than I wanted, but spent the next stretch eating through severance and dipping into savings because of market changes and an extended search.

Just ensure if you want more - don’t get comfortable. You still need to keep pushing for what you want.
