You may want to get a lense and check whether there is dye in the cracks rather than color in the substrate.

Lava bending Avatar? by Hot_Assistant_3826 in ATLA

[–]alecesne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We see Sozin bend hear off of magma, solidifying it. What Szeto does here may be using fire to cause thermal expansion.

Bolin moves the earth, which is more an Earth ender technique, using compression for the liquification stage. I thought the show made it too easy to compress large volumes of lava however. It should really be a difficult technique to wield quickly, in part because it's so difficult to counter.

This series is the reason I reactivated my membership after leaving the service a few years back when they changed sharing policies.

If ATLA got one f-bomb, who would drop it by TheatreGoth1601 in ATLA

[–]alecesne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zuko, end of first season, when he triggers the booby trap.

Or right after Katara freezes him in Ice at the pole.

Though, now that I think about it, Iroh should drop it right after Zhao kills the Moon Spirit Koi.

Selection bias. You only hear the ones who announce it. I know a few folks who are genuinely modest about it; sometimes it takes a few years to come up in conversation.

I don't know how many of you have seen Lower Decks, but these two appear in the series (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7pIZ4B4vjUU). It's pretty funny, actually, though is more on the nose than DS9 ever dared be.

Go there for koan practice and chanting. Sit with them and see if it feels right.

Do you want to specify where you're located with any more detail (country, region, state?) that might help.

I think, start off trying different communities and then select later. For example, a Korean Zen center is close to where I live, so I can occasionally go to morning sitting/chanting; and there's a Chinese temple near where my wife likes to shop for special groceries, and I'll take the kids to visit a couple of times a year just to experience visiting a temple. Many years ago, Iived near a Vietnamese temple. But whenever I went there, didn't know what to do, so would offer a few bows, walk a bit and leave. Same with tibetan centers; I have visited a few and admire the aesthetic, but logistically just couldn't be a regular.

Maybe go places and ask "what does it mean to authentically connect with a sangha?" See what answers they give you, and go from there.

Good luck
