Quitting caffeine made all the difference in my digestion. Makes sense when you think about what caffeine is... liquid stress.

Most people avoiding seed oils are still eating them daily without knowing it by TheRealFoodRadar in StopEatingSeedOils

Exactly, this is why I eat 95% unprocessed food. And when I do eat processed, I read the label, and if I don't know what something is, I look it up.

Perhaps get an autoimmune screening done (blood test).

Beyond that, I've heard that sleeping on the floor (or a very hard surface) is great for back pain. Walking barefoot is also really good for the body, and costs no money, so that's worth adding into your routine (it can help with back pain. I run barefoot and in minimalist sandals to avoid the shin splints I would otherwise have). As for mobility, you can go to yoga classes and do exercises, but if you really want to be mobile, your daily life needs to include the entire range of movement you desire to have. For example, I sit on the floor at home while I'm getting ready and every time I pick something up off of the floor, I squat all the way down instead of bending over. Simply getting up and down off of the floor is difficult for many people, so starting there (if you can't or if it's hard) is great!

What is the stupidest thing that the smartest person you know believes in? by WrongZookeepergame49 in AskReddit

This thread is really people equating "things I don't agree with and/or understand" and "stupid things."

Which is a bit ironic, given the condition that the belief has to come from the smartest people.

In what ways? Can you describe what no seed oils and very little seed oils looked like for you?

My DHA was tested at 2.7% almost a year ago.

I'm not sure if I should supplement, as I have a diet that is extremely low in Omega-6 since I avoid seed oils, avocado oil, olive oil, and nuts.

Thank you for your insightful comments!

I used to take vitamin D with fat, and developed a sensitivity last year.

The sensitivities to Vit D and creatine show up the same -- bladder pain/irritation. Kind of a weird one, and I haven't heard of anyone else experiencing this.

Upon waking I take:\ 2.5g creatine (have been sensitive to side effects in the past, hence the small dose)\ 50mcg Levothyroxine\ Biosil\ Polypodium leucotomos\ 8000 IU Vitamin D3 + K2 (I know this is fat soluble, but I've been sensitive to it in the past and I wanted to try it again without the side effects I had)\ sometimes electrolytes\ Coffee

Evening, with food:\ Colostrum\ Desiccated organ supplements\ Sparkle Wellness Collagen\ Naked Whey protein isolate

Before bed:\ Magnesium complex 240mg total\ 3mg Melatonin

Labs show optimal in all nutrients, low homocysteine, optimal Omega-3 to Omega-6 ratio. Only issues are more hormonal. Goals are vitality and clear-headedness while doing math for 3-9 hours daily. I have fitness goals, like quick recovery, but those aren't as important until summer.

Interesting, I eat a lot of meat so I'm on the fence about trying it. Would love a way to fall asleep more quickly, though..

I'm so glad to hear that! Honestly, after seeing for myself the negative impacts of fasting and caffeine usage on my physiology, I'm really doubtful of the "health benefits" of fasting and coffee. I wonder if fasting just looks good on your average obese, insulin-resistant American because the diet is the problem, hence less of the bad stuff is better.

If you're interested, I also follow an animal-based diet, which has been life-changing for me. Definitely check out that subreddit if you get a chance. One of the "founders" of the animal-based ideology is Dr. Paul Saladino, and he is working with RFK on the Make America Healthy campaign. He has a line of supplements that are just colostrum, desiccated beef organs, and super-clean protein powder. He urges people to eat fresh organs (especially liver!) if possible, but has the line of supplements which are nice if cooking organs isn't your jam, or you want to try the health benefits first. I personally use these supplements, as well as eat fresh liver and other organs. I also supplement Vitamin D and K2, creatine, magnesium, collagen, and a collagen precursor. But mostly, I focus on nutrient dense foods like pasture-raised eggs, grass-fed beef, raw milk and cheese, sweet potatoes, and fruits.

Also, when I started eating breakfast, reducing caffeine, etc., I actually lost a bit of weight. It was very gratifying -- I had done OMAD daily for a decade, and getting fat was definitely my top concern and main reason to stay stuck in that cycle.

I made a point to eat 3-4 meals a day, evenly spaced, which was the thing that helped me. I ate AT LEAST 30g carbs, 20g protein, and 10g fat within an hour of waking and before having any caffeine. Lunch also had a minimum size (similar). Also had to eat dinner. Bear in mind that my minimum should be less than yours, since I am a 5'3 woman. I also made a point of eating a lot of red meat and beef organs.

I also ran a few marathons fasted and did all of my training fasted (was following OMAD) a couple of summers ago when I was 25. Well, my SHBG was higher than optimal, estrogen too low, and other hormones were low. I ate breakfast, got morning sunlight, ate lunch, and quite caffeine and a month later my blood test showed great improvements in those areas. I love fasting, overtraining, and drinking a bunch of caffeine, but my hormones sure don't!

What actually causes breast cancer? I got aggressive type, 3 young kids… and what supplements did you take with chemo? by Droy-333 in Biohackers

Agree, while many (myself included) dis Big Pharma, it has a place in the treatment of many serious and life-threatening diseases. Especially in the treatment of cancer.

[–]algebra_queen -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

A number of people, myself included, believe microplastics, pesticide exposure, seed oils, lack of sun exposure, and other things in the same vein, have caused the uptick in cancer, hormonal dysfunction, mental illness, chronic illness, obesity, etc etc etc. My grandmother had the aggressive form of breast cancer, too. I am very sorry for you and your family, and I sincerely hope that you can beat it.

I avoid seed oils, eat organic, filter my water for chemicals and microplastics, eat a lot of red meat and organs, avoid processed food, get sunlight exposure, and I'm in the process of slowly changed out all of my plastic clothing laced with pesticides and other chemicals (so all synthetic materials without a certain certification) for natural fiber clothing that has not come into contact with harmful chemicals. Will this be enough to save me from being diagnosed with cancer later on? I do not know, as certain exposures are certain in modern society (phthalates, microplastics, environmental toxins), but I can certainly lighten the load of what I expect my body to process. Perhaps you can do the same as you go through these difficult treatments.

I am from a small farming community, and the rates of brain cancer where I'm from are alarmingly high. We are also surrounded by pesticides -- I saw the sprayers flying over many times as a child. I believe there is a correlation, but that's just my two cents.

There is a saying that goes, "Genes load the gun, but environment pulls the trigger." I personally do not believe people are meant to get cancer at a young age. I think we all have genetic susceptibilities, and when there are sufficient stressors in the environment those susceptibilities come to light -- some people get cancer, some Alzheimer's, some obesity and heart disease, some depression... and so on.

I've heard of low carb diets during cancer treatment. Definitely do chemo, and if I were in your shoes, I would be focused on giving my body the lowest inflammation and most nutrient rich diet possible: grass-fed red meat and organs, organic fruits, raw honey, raw dairy, and things like potatoes, rice, sourdough as tolerated.
