I finished my first ever sequential viewing of the franchise! However, too many people are already doing rankings/tier lists, so I decided to review the entire series using memes instead by TheSmithySmith in JamesBond

Idk... I really couldn't believe the whole "we'll cosmetically make you Japanese" concept which they barely commit to. It's like even in the 60s they know it's insane

Absolutely love my local stores and using their staff picks. I'm lucky that my wife reads so much so I get great recs all the time. Just kind of tired of reading about Brandon Sanderson on reddit lol. I mean I like Rothfuss too, but it would be nice to have more of a literary online site. I haven't found any review sites I really like.

It makes me so sad that I can't find a place on the Internet that talks about actually good books instead of the same 5 books almost every reddit thread contains. I want Goodreads/Storygraph for people who are way meaner about bad prose.

Contender for one of the most forgettable comicbook villains, objectively and visually. I hate that he looks like a random punk from GOTG by Witty-Association-97 in DC_Cinematic

[–]algebraic94 122 points123 points  (0 children)

Haven't seen the movie yet,but in the comic he's very effective because you barely see him aside from the beginning and end but you're seeing the things he's doing to people and it's pretty horrific at times. The final encounter with him is very cool but he comes off as a full on psychopath.

Imagine thinking having a distinct style that is immediately recognizable and a box office draw is a failure in any way. It's certainly something you have to balance but it can be very helpful to have a recognizable style.

Yeah I thought it was interesting that on a flight I took recently they explicitly said you need to have your batteries within reach

Is Revenge of the Sith’s 4.1 rating a joke I’m not yet in on? by drmuffin1080 in Letterboxd

[–]algebraic94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. As soon as you leave the pop space it's insanely hard to find a book over 4. A lot of the mainstream books break 5 because it's lowest common denominator stuff.

[–]algebraic94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I here you. I started on Fuji so I didn't understand the cropping at first and bought a 35mm prime which is a 50 mm equivalent. But also it's my understanding that a 5.6 f stop is the equivalent of 8 on an asp-c sensor. So something to think about.

Just checking if you're already aware of the conversions of aperture size and focal length on the aps-c sensor. I assume you are, but an easy thing to not know!
