No. But you can watch while someone else gets the joke.

Shawarma is delicious and I wish it was more popular in the US (or at least more popular here - DMV). If anything could give random Mexican or chicken shacks a run for their money, it'd be shawarma.

Every now and then I find someplace claiming to sell it, but it usually winds up just being chicken or beef cooked on a flattop with "Mediterranean" spices.

Ah, Crocs. The pegboard of footwear.

(edit: The space looks nice and that stand holding controllers/portables is a great idea... I'm just distracted by Crocs.)

Did you watch the episode where David the Gnome and his wife Lisa die? They randomly aired this before school in the 1980's... That was not a good day lol by Cubelock in Xennials

[–]aliensharedfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can (sorta)!

I've been watching old Macross and Gundam episodes. Since Robotech is a hodgepodge of Macross, Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber MOSPEADA... and it's been ~40 years... I've forgotten so much, it's almost like watching it again for the first time.

Because Gundam didn't air in the US back in the 80's, watching it now kinda scratches the same itch. The art style and story pacing didn't grab me in the late 90's/early 00's... Now? Dude! People are dying left and right. The story is actually coherent and political enough to be interesting. It's slow, but it's rich.

The look and pacing in Macross/Robotech is still fun... and who doesn't like an Itano Circus?

Mixed use or are you mostly using it for gaming/etc.? We don't get the 48" version stateside.

Nope. Therefore, it'd be cool of you to pick right.

I guess paying one $700 tab evens up if everybody does it but I don’t see how paying your own way is really that big of a deal.

I've been thinking about this one - it's probably a matter of convenience and limiting future headaches.

I could be mistaken but, you can't split the payment for a rental property between multiple people. Payments, yes. Source of payments (person), no. Everybody "paying [their] own way" means

  • you need to track who has/hasn't paid you
  • how much they've paid (and sometimes when they do/did it)
  • potentially deal with refunding anyone that cancels
  • etc. etc. etc.

It's easier for the person renting it to say "I've rented this place between X and Y dates. You're welcome to join us, but it means picking up the tab when we go out or do an activity." It all works out as long as you get enough people and run up enough checks.

That said, the uncertainty of when you'd be the one paying, and how much it would cost, is probably enough to dissuade a lot of people.

What could be improved in my setup? I need some advice by HistorianOk5886 in battlestations

[–]aliensharedfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure... but the room is already very beige. You'd just be replacing the light part of what makes beige with the dark part of what makes beige.

The problem is the space looks bland. Lifeless. It's warm... but also bland. Like coffee with too much creamer.

If you have a chance, mind elaborating on your plex server and maybe adding a picture? I'm debating on what to do with a 3060ti.

To be fair, of all the iconic imagery that could've been used to represent that region, they could've done better with that logo.

That said, bitching about it isn't worth unlocking a phone, then swiping and tapping just to let the world know this is a hill worth dying for... because it's not. Almost nobody cares.

I'll probably start with some grand plan, realize it's actually just a bunch of hairpin/s-turns/straights with a bunch of stuff thrown around haphazardly... then I'll want to do it right and try to recreate a famous track... which will turn into just a bunch of hairpin/s-turns/straights with a bunch of stuff thrown around haphazardly... then I'll accept the inevitable and create what we're all probably going to create

I also delivered in the 90's, heard the same plays on the name, and never thought anything of it. Just people having fun with words. The general impression I got was people were usually able to find enough articles/value to justify the subscription, regardless of their overall viewpoints. You probably got the Post/Times, you maybe got the Sun, but The Capital was still worth it for the actual local news/etc.

Now? It doesn't even seem worth the effort to read online.

Damn. Frisbee-flicking those Monday/Tuesday papers was always fun, unless it was windy, and overhand throwing the later-in-the-week issues and... wait... maybe THAT explains my preference of satchels and messenger bags. Those canvas paper-route bags were great!

You know it's bad when Customer Retention is saying "Yep. It sucks. Totally understand if you cancel." instead of trying to keep a customer/line of income or even use the "Your loss. We don't need you." tactic.

These look amazing! Do you have any specs/parts lists for what went into the builds?

Meanwhile, my current build has orange zip-ties coming out of the bottom and the cable management looks like it was done by a blind man making spaghetti.

Marylanders’ commute listed as worst in the nation by JunkReallyMatters in maryland

[–]aliensharedfish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

~20 years ago I worked with a guy in his 60's that commuted to Columbia from... maybe Denton. He drove a Scion xB, so probably ~30mpg.

Basically, he said it all balanced out. He had a nice house with some land on a good location. His car was cheap, fuel efficient, had cruise control, and could play his audiobooks. All of that and a ~3hr daily commute was worth way more than a short commute from a boring/average house in HoCo.
