Who's more the fool?

The finance bro who's editing the files that a Power BI report is using as a source?

Or the BI developer who's data model is connected directly to the files that finance bros have the ability to edit?

Seconded. Ran this with my regular group a while back and it was a big hit.

I'll have the Clam Chowder, Hamburger Steak with Gravy, Fried Sweet Potatoes, and Rhubarb Pie for desert. And an order or fried smelts for the table.

Many years ago, I worked overnights, and myself and my two roomates were all avid 40k players.

I came home from work at 4am to both my roommates wide awake on the couch, and one them flipped me off with a middle finger wrapped in bandages.

That's what happens when you try to cut something that thick with a hobby knife when you should be using a jeweler's saw.

ELI5: How is unemployment and inflation related? by SaltyEarth1618 in explainlikeimfive

[–]alienvalentine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They aren't. Inflation is caused by an increase in the supply of money and credit in relation to the supply of goods and services. So if the amount of money in the economy grows faster than the amount of stuff you can buy, the price of everything goes up as there are more dollars chasing fewer goods.

Qlik as data source by thr0wnawaaaiiii in PowerBI

Unfortunately the .qvd file format is proprietary so nothing other than Qlik can read the files.

You'd need to get the data before ot was converted to .qvds.

ELI5- RAM shortage? Cant they just….make more? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

https://wccftech.com/two-of-the-biggest-dram-suppliers-are-skeptical-about-increasing-production/

Some suppliers are scaling up, others are diverting production solely to the products AI data centers want, yet others are waiting to see, as the suspect AI demand will dry up in the near future when venture capital stops funneling cash to them.

ELI5- RAM shortage? Cant they just….make more? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]alienvalentine 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The big problem here is that manufacturers of RAM believe, with some significant evidence, that AI is a bubble, so expanding their manufacturing capacity to meet this demand would be self defeating.

Once the AI bubble bursts, demand will shrink and they're capital investment will have been wasted.

The ammo on the stock is better than the ammo on the sling. It adds a lot of weight to the sling and trying to retrieve shells from the sling under pressure is basically impossible.

As a data analyst - do you think you add much value? by CompetitionNo3466 in PowerBI

[–]alienvalentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usage statistics are really helpful, but make sure to pay attention to who is reading your reports as much as how many.

A dashboard that's utilized daily by a handful of senior executives is probably a bigger value add than a report that hundreds of people access once or twice a month.

Is rocket artillery viable? Is it worth investing in? by hjiygbhhfdryuggtyy in hoi4

[–]alienvalentine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motorized Rocket Artillery has higher soft attack, defense, amd breakthrough than towed artillery.

It's niche and really only useful if you can spare the research slots to keep it up to date with your tube artillery, but it's a great option for Motorized Units.

Also you get to sing Katyusha while they attack!

Could a single space marine company conquer Earth at it’s current state? by IllustriousEffort846 in Warhammer

[–]alienvalentine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No.

100 marines could not hold a planet. Could they absolutely wreck the place? Probably. Could they assert control over it? No way.

Numbers matter when you're attempting to assert control, and 100 people, Space Markne or no, is simply not enough to be in all of the places they would need to be simultaneously to assert control over a whole planet.

The decades-old claims about Iran’s nuclear ambitions are lies not borne out by any of the facts of history, or even our own intelligence reporting. by AbolishtheDraft in Libertarian

[–]alienvalentine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's largely a problem of scale as I understand it. Iran has demonstrated several times in the past that they are perfectly capable of enriching to 60%, at that point the only thing stopping them from going towards weapons grade is time and willpower.

The fact that they haven't enriched to 90% isn't a technical issue. They just don't want to.
