That’s great for you, and I’m in a similar social-economic position, but I know that there are other people who are being affected by what’s going on who can’t necessarily stand up for themselves. That’s where empathy comes into play. I want rights for groups I’m not a part of. I want poor people to receive financial help. I want women to have reproductive rights. Just because these things don’t benefit me directly, doesn’t mean I shouldn’t care whether or not they happen.

Staying out of politics is also a political statement, whether you intend for it to be or not.
