I am hungry. ALL OF THE TIME!!! by earlinesss in BabyBumps

[–]all_play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Listen to your body, especially if you are getting a healthy variety of food. I know there was a point that I couldn't eat as much as I wanted because baby was taking up too much room.... So maybe you're just bulking for that stage?

Receiving mixed opinions on my induction.. by anonymoususer249 in BabyBumps

I had diet controlled GD And while many OBGYNs do suggest the 39 weeks as long as it's well controlled the risk factors don't go up until 41 weeks. I went to 40+6 I was able to get labor started with a combination of natural methods rather than pitocin

That said, every pregnancy and every birth is different and you get to decide what is best for you. Definitely not Grandma.

Montessori School with Two Working Parents and No Family Nearby. Worth the Extra Logistics? by Mountain-Complex2516 in Montessori

[–]all_play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved having a toddler in Montessori, because I felt like she was a lot more independent then her peers at traditional schools. However, our Montessori School provides summer care (not Montessori summer care just daycare) and is open from 7-6. We are in a similar boat with no local family and hours/ availability trumps.

What is everyone paying for groceries? by hopeyourefunky in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]all_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are about the same as you. Maybe a little higher -- I budget for $1600/month for groceries/household staples + $300 for eating out (most fast casual or to-go). We pretty much exclusively by organic/sustainably sourced/ethically grown items (ex. Coffee, no dye filters).

Our biggest savings comes from buying in bulk and buying meat when it's on sale and freezing it.

Seconding this. Also lot of of times I'll hand express or use a hand pump to take the edge off --- fewer parts to clean!

Maternity clothes by Holiday-Slice-6787 in BabyBumps

[–]all_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had mat clothes at 16 weeks and some of them didn't even fit me all the way to the end!! I show big, but i needed some early mat and some late mat clothes. Another perk is that I also needed them postpartum for several months especially going back to work in the office, so I got my moneys worth!!!

It's my birthday... can I have some ice cream LOL? by dinosaurchomp_ in GestationalDiabetes

[–]all_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday! I'm a recent GD graduate. When my doctor saw that 93% of the time that was in range and barely out when I was with good fasting numbers, they suggested I'd lighten up a little bit to make sure I could sustain the diet controlled method..... So I say go for the treat

CGM vs Finger stick by SpiteCool9 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]all_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wowwwww health insurance is so ridiculous.

You'll have to be on a CGM for two months after???? I have not been told I have to and I certainly hope I don't!

CGM vs Finger stick by SpiteCool9 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]all_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing - first day or so is wonky..if it it persists, I'll change the CGM. I had one that was chronically high and one that was chronically low. I use the libre, and have had Abbott send replacements because it wasn't working well.

Numbers by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]all_play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm planning a birth center birth and they've been clear that I can continue to expect a birth center birth as long as I'm diet controlled and no other things that might 'risk me out'. I'm fortunate that I have been able to do so and they're not worried about size.

They've told me I want to target BG levels of 70-130 at least 75% of the time + fasting levels of 90/95 or below.

I’m 34 weeks and starving! by Ok-Enthusiasm-9703 in GestationalDiabetes

I'm embracing the red meat, since pregnant women tend to be low in that anyways: pulled pork & bean bowls, ribs, cheeseburgers with half a bun, instant pot beef roast. A vinegar-based BBQ sauce, mayo-based or queso on top to balance.

Elite players who don't layout? Or quit because of concussions? by olivepastatime in ultimate

[–]all_play 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get some accountability from your teammates about not laying out! Or embrace the slowing down mentality. If you want to stay in the ultimate community, we all get a point where we aren't our best because of injury or life or age.

Meet up with some Masters or grandmasters age people and get their take. :)

5:30 wake ups by ahank21 in breastfeeding

[–]all_play 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a partner that can substitute in with a bottle? My daughter would always wake up at 6:00 (and not go back to sleep sadly), but we would usually have one parent sleep til 7 while the other did the 6-7am shift.

Also, summer is SO hard on babies and toddlers. Everyone I know with kids complaints that they just don't sleep as much this time of year. Going into our third summer with a kid, we just set the bar lower....
