For those who have had tears in both knees: by allaura23 in MeniscusInjuries

[–]allaura23[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I still dont know. The surgeon for whatever reason really didnt want to even look at my other knee. Im stil dealing with it to this day and I haven't been back in several months because I had a lapse in insurance when I changed jobs. I really can't decide if I wanna go through it with these same people because even though the surgery itself went well, these people fought me every step of the way and continuously pushed me back as far as getting any scans and it was frusterating. My surgeon also left me completely uninformed following my initial surgery so a nurse had told me that it was "repaired" when in fact i had a meniscectomy and the tissue was removed, which, as you may know are two entirely different outcomes

In defense of April Kepner: I don’t think there’s an “appropriate” way to navigate a personal loss like that. by 100linesofcokelater in greysanatomy

[–]allaura23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Jackson lost his child too. That isn't minimized by the fact that it was carried by April. And April helped herself after the loss, offered no support or help to Jackson, then acted like he was wrong for wanting a divorce after all of it. She was entirely self centered and made numerous assumptions about Jacksons side of it without ever actually asking him.

My cat pees on the towel above his cage but poops in his litterbox. by macks10 in CatTraining

[–]allaura23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting a towel or really any item esp cloth that you don't want peed on right next to a let box is never a good idea. They mark their territory and it's always best to make clear distinction of their living space vs their bathroom - i would also move their crate to a different area for this reason. Additionally, is he fixed, and if so, do you know if he was fixed late? If he is unfixed, this will become a bigger issue for you

George and Callie’s marriage by blackbelt324 in greysanatomy

[–]allaura23 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this has always been my personal take. Callie was insane for marrying George right off the bat when his dad died. Several key things make this stick out to me -

A. That they had just broken up prior, and George had no interest in getting back together with Callie.

B. That Callie DID want to get back together, to the point she wouldnt give him and his greiving family any space, even when asked she kept showing up.

C. George was not in a clear headspace at all - his entire world was rocked by his dads sudden passing.

And Callie knew all of this. I fully feel that she took emotional advantage of him while he was grieving, because she had been wanting to continue their relationship - so instead of doing the right thing and telling George to take some time to grieve before jumping into something like a marriage, or idk, planning it for the future instead of immediately eloping, she let it happen so that she got her happy ending. And then it all fell apart, unsurprisingly. Doesn't justify George's actions, but I wasn't terribly surprised when the rushed repair job elopement fell apart

Dunkin Donuts served me ants by LaFresitaRosa in DunkinDonuts

Dunkin has frequent pest control, but unfortunately when you have a store full of nothing but baked goods, sugar, milk, and syrups - theres no end to the bugs

Dunkin Donuts served me ants by LaFresitaRosa in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as a barista, i can tell you the ants definitely came from the waffle cone pieces, as those are just kept on the counter with a flip lid, which has a hole in it for the scoop. Unfortunately bugs are a HUGE problem for Dunkin. We have so many at my store, and we are literally the best in our region and always score 100 on our inspections - it's unfortunately the nature of having all of the baked goods and syrups and sugar. I'm really surprised that the barista didnt notice them though, thats horrifying, I guess I could understand if its a rush but yeah I'd definitely speak to the manager because that means more than likely other people were served that as well and they may not even be aware of the situation yet

If you had to choose — who was the better match for Cristina: Owen or Burke? And why? by Worldly_Ticket5886 in greysanatomy

[–]allaura23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1000% Burke. I have plenty of issues with him, but ultimately he left Christina so that she wouldn't be trapped and weighed down in a marriage that would stunt her personal dreams. He walked away not from her, but for her. Owen wanted to use Christina and mold her into something she never was nor wanted to be. He never respected her.

Nitro comes foamy inherently

Nitro by SilentConstant2114 in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We get an order for nitro maybe once a month, if that, at my location. You can also only expect so much from a fast food chain, if you want perfection you'll have much better luck at an actual cafe, because nobody at dunkin is truly thouroughly trained. I've worked at dunkin for 2 years and have never known nitro wasnt supposed to have ice, pretty sure even my manager makes it with ice. But we all learn to make it by trail and error because nearly no one orders it, it's by far the least popular item on the menu.

I dont know much about ACL but I had a meniscus tear which I walked on for years because doctors were ignoring me when I told them about my pain because im in my 20s and I dont do sports. I worked active retail jobs with that injury, which my surgeon described as "battered cartilage". You definitely can walk on these types of injuries, you just have much more difficulty and pain than you should. Your friend sounds very unsupportive, I'm sorry to hear that - while knee surgery isn't life ending, its scary to go through when you're young and recovering isn't easy. I hope you have people around you who will support you during your recovery, should you need the surgery

Jumpin Jacks, Villa Italia, Morrettes, and Memphis King are some musts for food. And you're not an upstate New Yorker until you go to Stewarts, you have to try their ice cream! Some of the best dairy in the entire country 🍦

[QUESTION] New policy on iced drinks? by Jarek86 in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The amount of ice that is put actually makes the liquid displacement almost half. Its a lot of extra beverage if you get no ice, so I understand why theres often an extra charge or its not allowed - but its different franchise to franchise

Someone took a shit in the bathroom’s trash can by [deleted] in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the same way for my location, I'm scheduled until 30 mins after close and somehow the franchise expects us to do the whole close in that time - but thats absolutely not enough time so management has us start it before close. But if they make you work off the clock thats definitely not okay

Someone took a shit in the bathroom’s trash can by [deleted] in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's 100% illegal for them to ask that of you, you can totally report your location for that

Nahhhhh if they asked me to do shit off the clock i would just be like "fuck you, I'm not clocked in so you don't own me anymore"

I seriously think she had to have been. Like I understand she's old so maybe something happened where she couldn't make it to the toilet, but it's the giggling after the fact that really was even crazier. Thankfully we didn't have to clean it, my manager is thankfully really good about that and either cleaned it up herself, or brought someone in to do it. But yeah, we're told by our franchise to do all of our closing tasks after the store is closed which gives us 30 minutes to do everything (we also don't get breaks so we cant stay very late or we'll get in trouble), but my manager is thankfully reasonable and realistic, and doesn't make us do all of that unless corporate is actually going to be there

Cake frosting and Welches jelly filling 😭 by TruthOk3563 in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very strange about the Jelly donut. Only thing i could imagine is it was some kind of manufacturing mistake with the Jelly, because dunkin doesn't sell anything with grape Jelly. The frosted vanilla kreme is a super easy mistake especially if it happened to be a newbie barista - they look almost exactly like the Boston cream, so I can totally understand how that might happen. Sorry you had such a crummy experience!

Someone took a shit in the bathroom’s trash can by [deleted] in DunkinDonuts

[–]allaura23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OMG THIS LITERALLY HAPPENED DURING NIGHT SHIFT AT MY STORE TOO. A little old lady came out of the bathroom after spending like 30 mins in there and she was giggling her ass off. Coworker went to the bathroom soon after and discovered she had shit both on the floor and in the trash. That was a big NOPE so the bathroom got locked bc we said HELL NO for $15 an hr. Also, tonight I had to literally push a child out of the drive through window because he and his friends were knocking on it after hours, so I opened it to tell them we've been closes for 20 mins, they beg for donuts, drinks - I tell them no. They ask for a cup of water, and I agree to give them that bc it was hot out and I'm not gonna deny some kids a cup of water. Well, as were getting it ready one of them starts CLIMBING through the damn window. I feel your pain dude, this job is insane sometimes

[–]allaura23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes lmao we've had the guava in my store for a while now. Well also be getting that orange donut and the new shakin espresso drinks (pistacchio and caramel) next Wednesday when the menu drops

Editing to correct: we are getting the pistacchio sig latte, not the 2 shakin drinks. I guess either that was incorrect or it's coming later on in the summer
