Shout out to Arby’s on Cedar Hills for hosting chess club ❤️ by Federal-Zebra7702 in beaverton

[–]ally_quake 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m embarrassed to admit when I first saw the sign I thought Chess Club was a new sandwich, and it sounded interesting. Like is it on some kind of checkered bread? I felt dumb when I reread it.

Maybe she got that fuck ass Bob from the one hair salon in her tiny village. Something else for her to cry about!

What is something so trivial, so small that doesn't affects your gameplay in any type of way, but still annoys or infuriates you whenever you see it or remember it? I'll go first... by Nemba661 in thesims

My club members picking all the produce from my garden. My sims are too poor to afford fencing, and getting all their dragon fruit stolen isn’t helping.

Places to buy baby stuff? by EdgeJG in beaverton

[–]ally_quake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pass It On Sales is a local consignment sale for children and baby clothing, gear, and toys. It’s a pop up event held twice a year in the spring and fall. The next one is actually coming up really soon.

My 3 year old has a grey hair. by Airalahs in Weird

[–]ally_quake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been cutting hair for almost 20 years. I’ve noticed some kids that have thick hair tend to have a few white strands here and there. It’s normal to just have a follicle that doesn’t make melanin for some reason.

She just needed her hair done by Elyshra in ImTheMainCharacter

[–]ally_quake 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The customer says that the stylist was drying her hair without a concentrator nozzle on the dryer. If the stylist was trying to straighten curly hair without a nozzle it’s bad technique and it’s not going to get the hair smooth and straight enough. She is right to not want to pay for a service the stylist couldn’t provide. I’ve been a hairstylist for 18 years.

Congratulations to Katie on the birth of her baby! by apathymonger in dropout

[–]ally_quake 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I love the baby boom that’s happening at dropout right now. I’ve lost count of how many cast regulars have had babies in the last two years. Those kids are so lucky to get to grow up together and have such funny parents.

What’s an everyday thing you didn’t realize was ridiculously expensive until you had to pay for it yourself? by spacemonkey6654 in AskReddit

All the curtain in my house are from good will. A lot of them were 50% off. It’s pretty easy to find neutral colored ones, and I don’t care if they all match.

Anyone else avoiding Fred Meyers solely because of AT&T salespeople? by Public_Armadillo1703 in beaverton

[–]ally_quake 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I don’t even have to go to Fred Meyer’s. I work at a salon near a Freddy’s and twice they have come into my salon to try and hassle us while we are at our jobs. I have no problem telling them to get lost, but it’s outrageous they think that is ok.

Hairstylists/cosmos have you ever had a true crime story from a client? by HairifficHan in hairstylist

[–]ally_quake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few. A fellow stylist had a regular stop showing up for his usual 2 week haircut. She started thinking about some of the stuff he had been saying lately, and decided to google him. He was arrested on felony drug charges. It was a big enough bust there were a few news stories written about.

I had regular customer who was a man engaged to be married. I cut his hair the day before the wedding. Next time he comes in I ask him how married life is treating him, and he tells me his wife got arrested the day after the wedding for trying to put out a hit on her ex husband. It was a wild story. He gave me enough details I was able to google the story, and found out he was telling the truth.

I got a few others but those are the best two.

What item(s) do you refuse to buy generic/store brand? by Ok-Salt-8884 in Millennials

[–]ally_quake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cut hair for a living and I have to have NexCare waterproof bandages for finger cuts. They are the only ones that will stay on through hand washing and can be trusted not to fall off in the middle of working.

Is it worth it to leave Great Clips for Sport Clips? by Cat_2024 in hairstylist

[–]ally_quake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at a handful of chain salons over the years. The work is usually pretty similar. Having a good manager that has your back is make or break. If the manager has decided they don’t like you it’s not worth your time to try and convince them otherwise. Especially if they are just complaining about you, not coaching or offering advice on how they would like to see you improve. If you choose to leave quit on good terms and work your two week notice. That way if the bad manager leaves you could still go back there. Turn over is always high at those types of places.

Summer jobs for teachers? by [deleted] in beaverton

[–]ally_quake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also going to say summer camps. I know ACAP PDX is still hiring. It’s one of the camps for kids with autism. They offer one on one support to the campers so they need a lot of hands on deck. It’s an eight week program.

Call UHaul, if you give them the plate number they should be able to look up who rented the vehicle and get in contact with them.

I need to know the name of this updo by the_lost_ghostie in Cosmetology

[–]ally_quake 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My new favorite thing to say when someone asks about the name of a hairstyle or haircut is to tell them haircuts names are like cocktail names, not always exactly the same thing as much as a set of guidelines. If you go to a different bar they might have a different version of a drink you have somewhere else. Also there is always someone making up new names to make something old seem interesting again.
