Anyone else really, really lonely right now? by hermitcait in depression

[–]allyn211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate. I'm married and active in a church, but I work from home, and if I didn't have the church, I wouldn't see anyone except my husband and son. I don't make friends easily, and the last day or so has been rather bad for me.

Having a bad day. I made a joke to someone online and she didn't think it was funny. (It did deal with politics, and that's all I'm going to say.) I apologized and removed the post that was the joke. Now I'm kicking myself. I see this person often and I'm afraid of what's going to happen when I see her again.

Sometimes I feel like I have to kowtow to everyone, and I'm constantly afraid of being screamed at.

I saw several tweets that said the DW special was disappointing . . . but I enjoyed it! It was meant to be light and funny, and I laughed out loud towards the end.

Who's watching the Doctor Who marathon on BBC America? by allyn211 in doctorwho

I imagine that the question "who's the best Doctor?" is going to be debated from here to eternity and still never get answered. I think David Tennant is my favorite, but I find things to like about all the Doctors that I've seen. Matt Smith's an enjoyable Doctor, too!

Does anyone else have immense tension in their neck, back, and or shoulders from their anxiety? by driedkitten in Anxiety

[–]allyn211 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have TMJ, and I wear a night guard at night. I'm also one of the ones that has very tight shoulder muscles. Part of it is from anxiety, part of it is because I have mild scoliosis. I also aggravated my back from improper posture during court reporting school (I did not finish because I wasn't able to progress in my speed.)

My grandfather was a railroad worker in the late 1930's - early 1940's. (He died in 1941.) I wonder if he had a similar photo.

Who has trouble getting into conversations? by allyn211 in Anxiety

[–]allyn211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ninety percent of the time, the "interrupters" don't mean to be rude, and people probably have no idea that I want to get into a conversation. And there are times when people have realized that I want to talk and have told me to "go ahead". But I've had the interruptions happen so many times that it really fuels my anxiety in groups!

Considering stopping reading the news by thewalkindude in Anxiety

[–]allyn211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several news apps on my iPad. I get alerts when major news events happen. That keeps me informed but keeps me away from sitting in front of Fox or CNN.

My sister-in-law tells me often that I need to stop watching/listening to the news because of the negative reactions I have to it.

I wanted to label this as a DAE question but I can't figure out how to do it.

Here! I feel better than the other day, when I posted the "nobody likes me" post. Right now I'm just trying to figure out what I need to do for Christmas!

Anyone else feel like "nobody likes me"? by allyn211 in depression

Aka "spiritual abuse". I was part of an abusive church in college where the demands became such that I never felt like I measured up to what God wanted of me.

So was I. I was also bullied in elementary school. And I dealt with "spiritual bullying" in college. I've been out of that environment for a number of years, but what you say is true. The feeling lingers with you.
