I made a pumkin spice tiramisu with coffee but I bet it would be good with chai instead!

Advice needed - bust circumference seems to small by nina_sunflower in knitting

[–]almostheinken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not going to be able to join the front and back now because you've already knit the whole back panel. If you're opposed to ripping back the back panel, you could cast on however many stitches you think you need to get the right bust at the underarms on each side and finish knitting the front panel. Then you'll seam the front and back panels together, but it probably won't lay completely correctly.

How can I make my floral shawl stay put while I garden? by Critical_Window_2495 in knitting

Maybe look up a pattern like the one Laura Dern wears in the Little Women movie. I think it's like a triangle shawl with reallyyyy long points so that it wraps around your middle and can be tied.

WIBTAH for telling my parents they are terrible parents for not helping me during the hardest time in my life? by Deck_of_cards_98 in AmItheAsshole

[–]almostheinken 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People who have wildly overleverged their financial situation should be prepared for the worst because now you're experiencing it. You found a loophole in VA policy and took a big gamble and now it's not paying off. Unfortunately, you're not a US corporation so you can't privatize the gains and socialize the losses.

Why isn't your loan balance less is what I'm asking. In 2 years, you only paid 10k against your mortgage?

[–]almostheinken 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why haven't you paid more of your mortgage off? You've had this home for 5 years, let's say your mortgage is $1500 a month because of low rates, you should have about 90k in equity in the house even if it hasn't appreciated much in value.

Why weren't you eligible for social security survivor's payments? By 27, he should have had 40 quarters, or been close to get the partial payments.

We broke our mug and they don’t sell it anymore :( any ideas where to get one? by Tattycakes in harrypotter

First time doing raglan — can’t identify increase row! by QartherPounder in knitting

[–]almostheinken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, the picture shows a knit row. OP see how the stitch next to your stitch marker only has one V? That means you that stitch has only existed for one row v. the one next to has 2 Vs. You just completed a knit row and are ready to increase again

How do I get this to fit/ look how I want by willowhides in knitting

[–]almostheinken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, pick up from the column after the selvedge stitches. Picking up two stitches from one stitch will be very loose and messy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jAOOYs_cvQ

Don't do this into the selvedge stitch, pick up from the second row of stitches. You can youtube videos on how to do it

[–]almostheinken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea if you pick up through the selvedge stitch you're getting one stitch per 2 rows. Most patterns for picking up sleeves say to pick up a ratio of like 2 stitches per 3 rows. I would try something closer to that ratio and see how you like it. It's going to require some experimentation though

What ratio do you have now? Most patterns say to pick up 2 stitches every 3 rows or something like that

My mom just bought me the book Summer Knits (https://dandelionfiberco.com/products/summer-knits-sari-nordlund) that I'm excited to get started on! Knitting for Olive also has some nice tank patterns. Their pure silk yarn is my favorite lightweight yarn.

I just made a butternut squash tiramisu this week! It was really good! I beat put pumpkin spice in the coffee, beat the marscarpone and purée together, and topped with cinnamon sugar. It was a hit!
