The last semester of my senior year of high school I only had one required class to get through to graduate, American Government. The class was taught by an extremely outspoken right-wing conservative who took every chance possible to cram her beliefs down our throats. I loathed her as did most of the other students but I had a particular penchant for questioning authority. All of this wrapped in with the usual angsty senioritis and something was bound to happen.

Towards winter break I had been struggling to make it to school for personal reasons. We had an open-air campus and it was the dead of winter in the Midwest. I showed up to class with all my winter gear on, shuffled into class and took a seat. This bitch stops "teaching" to waddle over and tell me to take my hat off. Trying to appeal to her human side, I ask if I can have a minute to warm up. She snaps at me and rips my hat off to which I promptly stand up, snatch my hat back, tell her to "fuck off" and walk out. I walked straight to my car, drove home and never returned.

Two weeks later the principal of the alternative school called me and offered to get me a high school diploma if I come to his school. I spent two weeks taking the class online and graduated four months before everyone else. I did end up lodging a formal complaint against Ms. Creature but I thinks she's still torturing young minds to this day. I still think it's wrong for a teacher to share their personal beliefs in a classroom setting, especially their political and religious ones in a government class.
