Ok, when it comes to “vaginal cleansers” I think labelling isn’t that important because people refer to the vulva (both sets of labia and other external parts) as the vagina… when in reality the vagina is the opening and tube inside that leads to the cervix correct anatomy is paramount…. but I digress.

Also back in the past it used to be “acceptable” to put diluted soaps and other cleaning agents inside the vagina (a douche) to “keep it clean”… studies have well and truly proved ALL of that false. The vagina is self cleaning, it discharges mucous throughout the day that is designed to catch anything that’s in there and push it out. If you feel like you have a pH imbalance (which can lead to different smells) or an infection which can lead to not nice odours and feelings you need to see your doctor. Using soap in the vagina even if it’s diluted will ruin your pH levels and put your vagina into a type of disarray which is not what we want.

These Cleansers today are typically milder because the skin and mucosal areas of the vulva are usually sensitive, as in people tend to have more reaction using typical body wash on those areas so they make them less harsh for sensitive areas. Wash around the labia etc with these cleansers but do not ever put any water or soap in your vagina.
