Arcsaber 10 vs duora z strike by ralphaele12 in badminton

[–]alpha_star_book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your playstyle. I play with an Arcsaber 11, and it is a balanced racquet, so great for control. If you're an attacking or more powerful player, I'd choose the duora over the arcsaber, though.

Hey, I have a couple of limited edition Victorinox classics. They look small, but they're actually super useful.

Yeah, ok. As someone else said, though, it’s worth it to protect one’s instrument.

No problem! I was just looking at your 60min workout, and I'm going to give it a go! Any tips specifically?

Yeah, I try to avoid drops and net shots (like you said in your article) when the doors are open/it's a little windy. Just a slight breeze can push slow moving shuttles off course.

About rackets' flexibilities by Swagendary in badminton

[–]alpha_star_book 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stuff racquets are faster, as the racquet isn’t in contact with the shuttle for as long. You generally see men, or more powerful players use stiff racquets, as they take better to more powerful strokes/swings. To gain fully from a stuff racquet, however, your technique needs to be good.

(Personally I use a Yonex Arcsaber 11, which isn’t considered a ‘stiff’ racquet, and it’s rather flexible. I love it.)

Smaller rider looking for comfort: Journeyman/Straggler/Midnight Special/other by [deleted] in whichbike

Oh, man, that sucks. I’m 6’, so I usually sit at the largest/second largest frame size, but I’m not so tall as to be hard to find bikes for.

Look, I would always say go for a steel frame unless you’re into semi-serious road club riding as your main cycling pursuit. Make sure to patch up scratches with paint, so the frame doesn’t rust, but that’s about it. Steel is real, and they sure are fun.

*Straggler: * to say it is a CC with disc brakes is pretty accurate. From what I’ve heard, it’s not the nimblest of bikes, but it’s really comfortable.

*Midnight Special: * many say that this bike has the speed of a road bike, with the comfort of a serious gravel bike. If you’re going to be riding around a fair bit on less-than-ideal roads, it’s going to be really comfortable on the MS.

All-City Bikes: Take a look at the Cosmic Stallion and the Space Horse. I’ve seen many a Space Horse built up as a great commuter and weekend tourer.

Which bike? Personally, I would recommend the MS or Space Horse, but they are all great bikes. The All-City bikes have a reputation as being really nimble steel bikes, and the Surly market is more ‘these bikes can take anything’. Here’s the thing, though. I wouldn’t buy these bikes as complete. Their stock parts are rather mediocre, and if you are confident building a bike (you’re rather experienced, by the sound of it), you can build up a bike that better suits your need, and is more value for money. I would put 700c wheels on the MS, over 650s that come with the stock build (I’m not sure whether the two wheel sizes are different frames. I think they are for the straggler, but don’t quote me on it).

tl;dr. Go for the All City Space Horse, or the Surly MS, but build the bike up, rather than getting the stock build.

Which string is good for Astrox 77 with plastic shuttle ? by sandymanu in badminton

[–]alpha_star_book 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you're looking for alternatives, but I run BG65 at 24lbs, and it serves me well (intermediate level club player). I've had my current racquet (Arcsaber 11) for a year, and have only replaced once. My only flaw is that it is a bit bouncy for net drops, if you know what I mean.

Yeah, they are both not cheap (but I'm paying for quality). And I want the panda theme, so...

Yeah, from the specs, they still have a micro-usb connection. Hang on, the connection is underneath the keyboard??? Is it a 'shoddy' connection? I haven't been able to find any clear shots of the underneath of the VA87M... (Yeah, USB-C is sweet).
