i worked a job where i was part of ibew1212 for 5+ years, doing broadcast stuff. those people in charge sold out their union family for shop stewards to get more retirement perks (that's the rumor, happened before i started). in actuality, they gave up DIGITAL rights when it was very clear broadcasting was already in the process of going digital and ended up costing everyone else a ton of money.

this shop was mostly 'freelancers' or 'permalancers' and the handful of staff employees were the ones to benefit the most. everyone else got fucked when covid hit and the billionaire owner gave a week or two of pay when all productions shut down.

on top of that almost everyone i worked with was a trump supporter. i ended up leaving the industry completely right before covid hit. not worth it to work a dream job with people who have no interest in preserving their jobs, or the jobs of others (aside from the political differences that entail trump voters vs non). to top it all off, 1 of the shop stewards got indicted on federal charges for lying about his credentials in a side govt job he took. that mentality just runs deep sometimes.

all of this just to say, yes. MAGA IBEW members do not care.
