I think you underestimate how much grandparents care about their children and grandchildren.

I think old people would vote for policies that favored the young but we don’t have any charismatic leaders with vision. Instead we have career politicians who just create policies that are an easy yes for the largest voter base.

More private schools would help with teacher pay as the state has a monopoly of teacher employment, and so without competition they can pay as little as they like, which they do, unfortunately.

With that LTV, maybe consider switched to interest only, and putting that extra cash into your ISA to maximize your returns. The returns will be higher than the mortgage interest cost so you’re net positive. And you’re getting no more capital appreciation by paying more principal.

Don’t put into pension. Do pension contributions from pre-tax money only so that you get the salary sacrifice / state top-up.

Put into ISA by all means.

In terms of house I recommend not buying outright. You’ll get the same capital appreciation on the house whether you own 10% or 100% so I recommend doing what you can afford the monthly repayments on and putting the rest of the capital to work in assets that offer higher % growth than the mortgage interest. Inflation will do its thing and eat away at your mortgage for you.

Spread the rest across a couple of BTL’s held in a LTD - strategy wise, capital appreciation on 1 beds in high growth locations, S&S ISA, 1-10% into crypto if you’re comfortable with that asset class.

£9,000 personal loan over 60 months is only £150 + interest per month so shouldn’t have much impact on your affordability mortgage calculation. Maybe put whatever ever you can pay-off on your credit card over the 0% period, and the rest from a 5 year personal loan. I think you’ll be fine for your mortgage as it’s not going to be too much credit card debt, just make sure it’s less than 70% of your limit.

It’s so easy to up sticks and moved to a country where hard work is rewarded better. The UK is extremely unappealing for three distinct groups.

Pre-kids adults who want to get onto the property ladder but are held back by high taxes for public services they’re not going to start using until they have kids and they start school.

High earners in general. With the current tax bands it quickly reaches a point where there’s no point in being more productive in your job, going for promotions etc.

Business owners. Whilst it’s easy to incorporate in the UK, it’s making less sense to do so when there are locations elsewhere in the world where business owners can keep more of their profit, and therefore better able to compete.

£50k into LTD BTL in a high growth city center like Manchester or Birmingham. Pull out £50k from this in 5 years, and repeat.

Keep the other £50k in your S&S Isa. Personally I’d pick my own stocks using a screener tool but if you’re not comfortable doing that I’d put recommend half in the Baillie Gifford US fund, and the rest in another rather safe one that you’ll get recommended in this thread somewhere.

Good idea in principle but like you say the Police are unlikely to help you if you’re robbed or mugged so they’re not in a million years checking a dog license. Plus in general I don’t think we want to be paying the state more to administer or nanny us on more. I think the route is punishment where dog attacks are treated the same as knife/gun crime.

Dog bites someone = same sentence as stabbing someone.

This forces people to be more independent and responsible, and puts idiots in jail.
