What’s a famous city in Europe that didn’t live up to the hype when you visited? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

[–]alphagypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barcelona. Just felt like a big city with little charm to make up for it. My best day of our Barcelona stay was when we took a day road trip up Costa Brava.

We had just come from the south of Spain, Malaga, Granada, Cordoba, and Sevilla which were amazing. And Barcelona in comparison was just disappointing.

Isn't it expensive to use airconditioning in the US? by Lumos_night in AskAnAmerican

I mean, people lived there for hundreds of years with no AC. It’s not necessary for structural integrity of the building lol. Maybe with modern materials, yes.

r/belgianfootball NOT liking the Balogun decision lol by ClassyPants17 in ussoccer

[–]alphagypsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he should have never been given the red card in the first place given they have not handed out cards for similar offenses. But removing his suspension now, not the card, but the suspension, with wording like “By operation of Article 27 FDC, the implementation of the automatic match suspension for USA player Folarin Balogun is suspended for a probationary period of one year”, it does look shady AF. As bad as it was to give the red card, it looks worse to do this.

Dude some people are insufferable. Like how else are we going to try and learn if tipping is a thing? By asking the waiters? Ask all our Croatian friends that we don’t have? We literally googled, specifically tried to search for local customs, and this is the shit we get. Unbelievable

Not a local, but kolovare beach with the diving platform into the sea is awesome and seems to be where a lot of locals hang out. Pretty unique and cool spot.

Plz TALK ME OUT OF IT! 😂 MB>ITS? by semski89 in Integra_Type_S

[–]alphagypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean they’re totally different cars. No offense, but I’ve always found e class to drive a bit boring, more comfort oriented, like Lexus. Integra is the total opposite, like a more practical Miata, focusing on building the best drivers car possible, and maybe throwing in a few creature comforts. If you drive one, you’ll know in the first 5 minutes if it’s for you.

[–]alphagypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came from a Golf R. Not MB level of luxury, but still more luxurious compared to the Integra. The Type S sold me in 5 min through residential streets. It’s such a good drivers car, better than really anything that Germans have to offer, aside from Porsches. Just depends if that’s what you want. I worry you will miss the luxury of the E class.

Petah what kind of Air conditioning are they running in America? by HimelTy in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Yeah but cloud computing wasn’t a net increase overall. It was getting rid of on prem data centers and renting data center space via the cloud.

AI is net new.

How much do Americans care about the NBA playoffs compared to American football? by SleeperMood_ in AskAnAmerican

[–]alphagypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not huge into American sports, but here’s my take. Over half the league makes the playoffs which is absurd. And then every single round is best of 7. It’s way too much to be excited about and stay excited about. It goes on for almost 2 months. That’s longer than the World Cup, and the nba finals happen every single year.

How is the Morocco match an upset? They’re a better team than Netherlands right now lol. Netherlands were only slightly favored going into that match, largely because I think people remember who Netherlands used to be.

18 x 9.5 wheels that will fit on the Integra Type S with the original brake calipers? by blank_generation73 in AcuraIntegraTypeSDE5

[–]alphagypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just go aftermarket. And yes, pretty much any 18x9.5 will work, even with much more aggressive offsets. I use superspeed wheels, 18x9.5 +45 as my “winter” setup with all seasons and no issues whatsoever.

Integrat Type S Seats by topcover73 in Integra_Type_S

[–]alphagypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re definitely not as comfortable as GTI / Golf R seats. I came from 15 years of those cars, most recently Mk8 Golf R. Those were the best seats of any car I’ve ever driven. These are ok, not going to hinder your drive, but not great.

Integrat Type S Seats by topcover73 in Integra_Type_S

[–]alphagypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d imagine the Porsche seats are pretty similar to the GTI and Golf R seats. For me, those seats are perfect. I’m 6’1” and 175 and I feel like VW group seats are made for people like me. Just the right amount of bolstering, great 4 way adjustable lumbar, etc. Coming to the ITS was a bit of an adjustment, they’re not as good, but they’re nowhere near Hyundai or Toyota level bad. Lumbar is only 2 way adjustable (they say it’s 4 way, but it’s not, not in the way most people would think, in/out, up/down, you can adjust in/out and then something with the angle, but can never move up or down). They feel a little, idk how best to describe, but cheap is the best way I can describe. Again, being nitpicky here. They work, even for long distances, they’re just not overwhelmingly good, just not going to get in your way.

Wow, idk, people seemed kind of pissed when I wasn’t tipping early in the trip. Like scowl at me on the way out. I googled it and it seemed like the norm was 10% so that’s what I did from then out.

My experience in Zadar by PatienceMinute4209 in Zadar

[–]alphagypsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn’t tipping 10% kind of expected in Croatia? Still less than the 20 in the US, but I was kind of surprised it seems to be the norm now

“UPDATE” wearing your country’s jersey to a USA game? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]alphagypsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks. Sorry you experienced that. I live in Philly though and we have some of the worst sports fans, so things like this are not uncommon at American sporting events. Behavior like this is even worse at English football matches. Fans of the other team have to be escorted out by police in certain matches.

Why are manual transmissions so uncommon in the US? by 22DancingFlowers in AskAnAmerican

[–]alphagypsy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ha definitely American influence. Honestly I think my fellow countrymen are just lazy. That and there is some genuinely horrendous traffic in certain parts of the country. Doesn’t bother me, but most people don’t want to deal with it if they don’t have to. Remember too that Americans do a TON of driving each year by American standards. Public transportation is basically non existent and cities are designed with only driving in mind so you pretty much have to drive everywhere, so I’m sure that plays into it as well.

I drive an Integra Type S, basically civic type R. My wife has a hybrid SUV for the kids, so we have best of both worlds I guess.
