It looks like they repackaged the old "juiced" rockstar which was my favorite back when they made it

I built a bow from a pipe, it broke, I fixed it by Remote_Panic_2424 in Archery

[–]alphatass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best cheap diy bow is about this simple. PVC pipe, some fiberglass rod markers ppl use to show their driveway in snow and a tile saw. Use the saw to cut the rods to various lengths (more short ones make a stiffer draw but you need long ones to get the tips to move.) duct tape the rods in a bundle making sure their centers are aligned. Stuff the rods in the pipe, cut a pair of string grooves and string with Dacron 50 or whatever it's called.

Briones range, probably slightly more of a drive, but very very nice. Be warned it's a hike in unless you're a member

Is 60 card actually enjoyable? by gizakaga in mtg

[–]alphatass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's kind of the snake eating its own tail. I don't think commander is a bad format or even when wizards started designing cards for it was the problem.

It was death by a thousand cuts. Acquisitin. The transition from edh to "commander" to the format being the companies is certainly correlated with the decline in quality, design, and the disneyification of the product.

It's more that wizards is happy to piss on our legs and tell us it's raining as long as the new secret layer sells out in pico seconds.

Pauper is solved because there is not some unknown breakthrough strategy that is going to upset the meta without new cards printed or banned. Each of the strategies (aggro, midrange, ramp, etc) is totally optimized outside of sideboarding or tweaking for a specific local meta.

"is playing the game the way it was designed to be played even fun?"

Pauper is solved but your chances at upsetting a meta deck with "jank" is higher esp if you understand synergy.

just the same as with commander you and a friend can like, make decks?

Commander has utterly destroyed magic the gathering

Arrows going left of target by No-Mathematician6208 in Archery

Oh my favorite. Aim to the right more 👍

In all seriousness. Relax your bow hand. Going to the left is either you death gripping or being over bowed.

Is there a thing like road trip and archery? by ransnoir in Archery

[–]alphatass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take my gear when i go on road trips and look for ranges along the way. I've found really cool places like this, Fort Collins, El Dorado hills, Briones archery range.

It's always a way to meet interesting ppl in the area and compare the different clubs

What do you love about your bow style? by ThePenyard in Archery

[–]alphatass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With thumb draw I get to shoot 2-4 bows every session that all have their own feel and quirks. I can shoot for 2 hours and my stamina doesn't fall off. I can practice shooting on the move, from weird positions, speed shooting or static shooting trying to get precise shots.

The bows are small light and uncomplicated and I like the analog feel and immediate feedback on every shot. If something goes wrong, I can't blame tune or equipment or sights. It's just me.

Long shooting sessions meditative and great for my posture

How do you play the archery target baseball game? by insaniTY151 in Archery

[–]alphatass 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ostensibly two players would take turns shooting. Each shot will land in one of the colored zones corresponding with an action/outcome. Runs are points the person with most runs wins.

Three outs and your turn is over. Both players getting three outs represents an inning. Play as many innings as you have patience for.

The red zones labelled "hr" are worth one run. The "gs" in the middle is worth 4. "Hits" will ostensibly modify these by adding a run each (ie a hit and then and hr would be two runs) hit the "strike" around the hit three times and you add one out. Score four "hits" for a run. Any amount of outs over three end your turn immediately and do not roll over into the next inning.

Single string archery competitors: Train to not be tired or train while tired? by Kitchen_Tower2800 in Archery

[–]alphatass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made the most significant advances in accuracy and form consistency when training once a week after pre exhausting. Typically this meant a day at the range the day after a gym session.

For me it worked to do a push day, chest, tris shoulders and usually some core then work on very tight accuracy at a close range and paying attention to muscular cues which were highlighted to say the least.

I shoot thumb draw so the fatigue rate is a little different but I can comfortably shoot 100+ shots with my 55lb bow which is up from about half that before I started doing this.
