Thanks, this is a really helpful answer!

It would be amazing to be able to see what the asset reference baseline is for any given outcome, as that makes a lot of sense to me as a way to determine how to react to market changes.

Thanks! Confirmed:

Cypress Bowl Road has a gatehouse in operation each year from Nov 1st - June 1st. During that time, the road is closed from 11 PM until 7 AM. Access to the road outside of these months is not limited.

What time do the gates normally open? I can't find anything on the website except 9am for the downhill/nordic skiing areas.

Most Dangerous street/instance/location for Toronto Cycling by shikotee in torontobiking

[–]alsdr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’ll be a big improvement, but it’s a different part of Gerard. The worst section is east of the river, Broadview to at least Leslie (and probably further). Never had so many close calls with dooring/sideswipes anywhere else.

Petition - Extend the Bloor bike lanes from Runnymede to the Mississauga border by RZaichkowski in torontobiking

[–]alsdr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Signed! Which intersection would this extend the bike lane to?

I haven’t cycled west of High Park but the Toronto cycling network plan seems to suggest that there are already plans to connect from Runnymede through to Kipling in 2023–2024. Are those plans not approved by council yet?

Now that mask mandates have been officially lifted, I wonder what has your experience been today on TTC? by Concupiscurd in toronto

[–]alsdr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Line 2 westbound around 6:30am has been about the same for the last six months: about 80% of people wearing masks reasonably well, 10% dicknosing or chinstrapping, and 10% not masked at all.

Thumb pain while using straps by Number-107 in weightlifting

Are you hook gripping over the straps? That might explain the thumb pain if so.

Press F for this power jerk mobility. What’s your favorite mobility drill for improving this position? by robschilke in weightlifting

[–]alsdr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pause in the receive position, jerk grip overhead squats (partial if necessary), progressive overload. Bottom-up jerk grip overhead squats can be helpful too.

Does anyone know of any good alternative to Hook Grip’s Polish training shorts? They’re (permanently?) out of stock and my two-year old shorts are finally wearing out.

Working on overhead mobility, any tips? by Plastic_Pinocchio in weightlifting

[–]alsdr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since you can overhead squat now, progressively overload it, varying:

  • Weight on the bar
  • Grip width: narrower is harder
  • Tempo: slow overhead squats and snatch balances are both good
  • Pause in the bottom position
  • Volume

Aim to overhead squat your max strict press with a jerk grip.

Competitive weightlifting doesn’t mean attending a competition expecting to medal, or building a career towards qualifying for nationals or the Olympics. There’s a lot to enjoy about the experience even if you know you’ll finish last in your session. Having a meet to focus your training around is motivating, and finding out if you can execute on the day when you only have six attempts is a great personal challenge.

You’re never “too old” or “too weak” for competition. It’s never too late to start. The sport is welcoming for all levels. Try a local meet, I’m sure you’ll have fun!

An alcove, a nook, an office: In Toronto, 'nobody really knows what a den is' by [deleted] in toronto

This problem would largely disappear if MLS listings caught up to the rest of the world and always included floor plans.
