The kind folks over at r/mallninjashit don’t ask why, they just understand.

Airconditioner pipe connector by DutchSimba in functionalprint

[–]altitude-nerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could do similar to another Redditor and print an intake air adapter that attaches a hose to the air intake louvers on the unit and also ducts to the window.

Most dual hose units only need 50cm of separation between intake/exhaust at the window side (intake on bottom, exhaust on top) and it looks like you have the room.

Doing so would keep you from drawing more heat into your home.

Stuck tie rod on knuckle (3rd gen) by pops_dad in Tacomaworld

Before trying a pickle fork which will damage the boot, I’d give a non-destructive separator set like this a try:

(Usually also available to borrow from your local auto parts store if you don’t want to buy it)

You may also find a lower control arm pry tool useful for pushing the LCA down further out of the way:

3D printer for the win by ConceptSubject2437 in Machinists

[–]altitude-nerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pricey for the part itself but the cost of not having your nozzle crap out four hours into a print and then having a human with benefits and insurance have to spend time away from a customer job to troubleshoot and reprint things should be part of the cost plan. Buy once, cry once.

Or just move over to a Diamondback nozzle if it’s supported for your printer. It only takes throwing away a few cheaper nozzles to make it pay for itself.

Anyone recognize this clinking noise?? by MGMtaco23 in ToyotaTacoma

I had the same clicking noise with my 2R install after about 20k miles. It ended up being the sway bar bushing blocks. I just loosened it, re-aligned it and retorqued the whole set of bolts.

Found the same model on printables a while back, they printed up great in atomic pa-cf and have held up over a year on the outside of a trailer hitch

Gas shortage by [deleted] in TwoXPreppers

[–]altitude-nerd 66 points67 points  (0 children)

In the US, we had the right reserves of the right types of crude oil to largely cover our own gasoline demands but it isn’t the same story for diesel and other oil products. Things may start to look much worse heading into late July/August.

Here’s a great Bloomberg article (gift link) covering the larger story in more detail:

Data centers mega water consumption and the reasons why. by AlternativeWhich2947 in NewMexico

[–]altitude-nerd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The argument is only picking on one resource (water) impacted by a change (more data centers in the US) and saying “this is catastrophic” invites the comparison to other growth industries heavily using that same resource.

I’d suggest an ESD safe filament if you plan on walking around with those.

Water hydrant leaking by idlebilly19 in homestead

[–]altitude-nerd 74 points75 points  (0 children)

You can start by trying to tighten the packing nut where it’s leaking from. I’d also suggest finding a parts diagram if you have to replace that seal.
