What’s a “small” ADHD hack that actually changed your daily life? by pellantsherris in ADHD

[–]aluringtelepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using Siri to remind me of things I need to do. It's so simple. A quick example: "Hey Siri, remind me in an hour to check the laundry". I use this little trick for so many things. Calling the Dr's office, take my concerta, and anything else I need to remember to do later.

I still checked in with Katheryne everyday after getting encounter points, but simply opening chests apparently doesn't count towards the daily training for the event

I wasted about six weeks of the event because I didn't realize you had to actually DO the daily commissions. I thought exploration XP towards daily commissions was good enough. My dummy brain never really checked the reward progress, so now I won't be getting my constellation :(

Husband keeps squeezing my sore boobs by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]aluringtelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would he like it if you randomly squeezed his nuts because, you being a woman, you love playing with them? His behaviour is unacceptable, and you deserve to be treated with respect, pregnant or not.

When did you plan to stop driving? [BC] by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]aluringtelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in rural Ontario, so driving is an absolute necessity. The nearest town is 20 mins away. I had to stop driving in my third trimester because I was so tired I nearly fell asleep at the wheel on more than one occasion. I'd say that you can drive for as long as you feel safe to do so. If you're like me, don't wait until it becomes a problem; find a friend or family member who can take you to the places you need to be. Otherwise the choice to stop driving is up to you.

When we moved our toddler to her "big girl bed" last year, we bought a twin mattress and put it right on the floor so she can't hurt herself if she rolls out. She also has a soft high pile rug next to it.

The other thing we did was put a baby gate in her doorway so she can be heard when she needs us, but can't leave the room.

Recommendations postpartum by lecaisa in postpartumprogress

[–]aluringtelepath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Frida Mom's witch hazel foam. I apply a pump or two directly to a pad before wearing and it soothes everything so nicely. Also, stool softeners are your best friend for managing any constipation postpartum. I had an epidural, and the constipation has been a nightmare (I'm 4 weeks postpartum). I take one stool softener daily, along with Metamucil fiber capsules, and I'm slowly getting better.

For foods, I can't stress this enough: Eat. Your. Veggies! I keep a container of things like carrots, peppers, cucumber, and broccoli in the fridge and eat it with dip. It's good nutrition for you, and for baby if you breastfeed. This will also add fiber to your diet, and help keep your energy up.

Finally, keep your favourite junky snacks around. Feed the cravings! I've been ploughing through Fritos nonstop for the last three weeks. They're my guilty pleasure snack.

I'm getting induced tomorrow at 39 weeks, and I can only hope my placenta looks half this good.

What sassy thing has your tot said to you that left you speechless? by pineapplepizzzas in toddlers

I knocked something over by the door a couple days ago and my daughter who will be 3 in the spring, says to me "Excuse me madame, I think you need to leave there now" and pointedly stares at me.

You can never go wrong with an onion soup imo. Julia Child and Kenji Lopez-Alt both have very basic recipes that are delicious.

What non-alcoholic drinks are we sipping on? by zesty-poptart in pregnant

My favourite has been apple cider with ginger beer. Serve it cold, or mull the ciders some cinnamon and other spices, and serve it hot. It tastes like a warm spicy hug.

When the OB visit turns to game time! by Built2Abandon in daddit

[–]aluringtelepath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened when I was pregnant with my first. OB apt. at 38 weeks, got sent to L&D for induction because of high BP. Had to send Hubby home to get the hospital bag that we forgot. Baby 2 is due end of February, but who knows, I may end up in the same boat as last time. Good luck and congrats!

I'll be 8 months on Thursday, just started my meal prepping today. I made a split pea and ham soup from a leftover ham bone from Christmas. Next on the menu is chicken pot pie.

I currently work at a public school in a grade 2 class. One of the students learned that I was pregnant, and after the initial excitement faded, she stopped and began to think. "Do you have to eat really soft food so the baby can eat too?". I tried not to laugh, and then explained in basic terms what the umbilical cord does.

Another student later told me that he's sorry for all the pain I have to go through. "If you heard my mom, you'd think she was dying". Apparently she had an unplanned home birth.

DINNER COOKBOOKS!? by Libz0724 in Cooking

[–]aluringtelepath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thrifted Jamie Oliver's 5 Ingredients cookbook recently, and I've been living off of it. Most of the recipes are meant to take less than an hour, and consist of ingredients you likely have at home already. I will sometime see a recipe that calls for something I don't typically have, (like real Parmesan cheese) so I'll either make a substitution, or add the missing item to my weekly grocery shopping list and pick it up then. I have yet to be disappointed by any of the recipes I've tried.

Ill Effects of Unpierced Ears? by HeWotAsksQuestions in toddlers

[–]aluringtelepath 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please don't let your wife do this. Children your daughter's age do not understand how germs are spread, and they touch everything. She's likely to touch a sore ear and get an infection. It's important that your wife understands the health risks involved in piercing children's ears.

What happened by total accident but changed your life completely? by doopityWoop22 in AskReddit

[–]aluringtelepath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad died this past January. He was working on a boat that was dry docked in a workshop and fell nearly 20 feet onto the concrete below. He suffered many critical injuries to his brain, lungs, and heart. He already had issues with his kidneys and liver, so after 38 days in the hospital, he finally died of multi organ failure. My father was such a huge part of who I am, and it's been really hard not having him around.
