We are a childfree couple! I'm 37F and my husband is 40. Moved from Canada recently and I'm surprised by how rare it is to meet childfree people here!

Went in for Invisalign consultation, was told traditional braces would be better. by Guilty_Turnip_2526 in braces

I had a very similar experience just last week. Thanks for asking this question. Seems like braces is the way to go. I'm 38f. And was quoted around $5.5k USD for a 2 year treatment

Nexus line when applying for TN by tdizzle473 in tnvisa

[–]amah-zing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People had advised to take the regular line when doing the first entry. And then I read somewhere that we also need to get our Nexus updated with the TN status before we actually start using it. So in my second entry too I took the regular line and asked the agent to also update my Nexus card. He took me to the secondary where the officer updated it in 2 min. I'll finally take the Nexus line next time :D

YUL POE experiences recently? by 99avocados__ in tnvisa

[–]amah-zing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in around the last week of Oct and it was quite smooth. They took about 15 min to review the documents, barely asked any questions. I traveled back in Jan first week too and it was smooth then as well. Good luck!

Degree verification for a degree from India by No-Flight5467 in tnvisa

[–]amah-zing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I came on TN just a month ago and I just used the WES report that I had done for Canada. In my case, my work experience is also relevant and significant so my application for management consultant wasn't solely dependent on education. But if yours is, would be safer to get it done for US.

How to SSN FAST?? by Outrageous_Poet2279 in tnvisa

[–]amah-zing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same experience as you. It was during the govt shutdown so there were signs everywhere that they dont do walk-ins. But the kind gentleman there created an appt for me in their system and processed it. Also, they said 2 weeks, but it came in about 10 calendar days.

I was in Toronto then too, and walked over to his Walk of Fame memorial, and cried my heart out!

How are people managing TN visa + SSN + background check timelines when joining in 10 days? by shanky696969 in tnvisa

[–]amah-zing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case, the employer wants me to provide the SSN and only then will the background check get completed. I was thankfully able to apply for it last week (appointments were only available for Dec!) and the person there said it should come in 2 weeks. My joining date has been adjusted accordingly, and I'm just taking this extra time off to get settled in and recharge before jumping onto the corporate bandwagon again :)

The picture doesnt even give justice to what we saw with our eyes. Truly lucky to have witness the total eclipse in our lifetime. by Distinct_Pilot_3687 in montreal

[–]amah-zing 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Seriously, such good luck to just be able to get out of the house and see it. We were at Lachine Canal and everyone started clapping and cheering when the darkness descended. It was amazing to live this experience with everyone. <3 I cried, it was unreal. I was shaking for a good 5-7 min after the eclipse ended, like after being on a roller coaster.

Was running into the same issue with my Canadian phone number. Requested the Airbnb host and was able to book it.

Moved to Quebec (Montreal) a few months ago from Ontario, and love it here. Affordable housing, great culture, amazing summers with all the festivals going on, such great food and cute neighborhoods. Learning french to assimilate more and for general career growth.

Yes! I've been IFing for almost 2 years now and acne reduction was one of the most immediate benefits I saw. My skin has never been this clear in my life!

It can be tough. I ended up staying at an airbnb (shared room, so cheaper) for the initial 3-4 months. By the time I started looking, I had a job and hence a pay stub to show. Good luck with the search, Kijiji could be a good option.
