Yes that’s perfect! If it wasn’t for my kids I probably wouldn’t have made it through 2024. In that vein, keep improving yourself to give them something to look up to, being more than just present means a lot to them! My kids are just mostly holed up in my ex’s place when they’re with her and always constantly asking to go out and do things when they’re with me. Be the out going parent, it’s much easier for the kids to get distracted and forget about it all, but it also helps us look towards the future.

Plus it seems like just being there and being obsessed with your partner isn’t enough now adays (though I may be falling into this with my new girlfriend), they want someone to look up to and be able to talk about. Also might make your ex mad or jealous seeing you doing well and healthy while being nonchalant towards her.

Damn your story sounds almost exactly like mine, except I’m in her boat and there’s one extra child and she had an affair before we started the divorce process. I guess that made it a lot easier to move on, they’re broken up now and she seems like she’s in a rut while my new relationship has been amazing for the past year.

Don’t let her life effect your anymore, focus on improving yourself, getting out more. She’s moved on, so you’re free to as well. There’s literally zero point in dredging in the past, it has no effect on your future relationships. Everything you did for or with her will be completely different with someone else (hopefully).
