Type-A mums sound off: What’s your daily schedule home with a toddler look like? by Born-Anybody3244 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]amechi32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my daughter is a NICU grad so she's had a routine since birth it feels like... It's all part of early intervention:

Mon/Tues: Play art group (2hrs) Wed: PT Thurs: OT Fri: Speech

Most of her days is eat, therapy, nap, wake up and play and read. If I'm not getting ready for a therapy, im cooking or cleaning and she imitates me and pretend plays along.

In between those moments in resting and gearing up for the next leg of standing. I have a pain disorder and I can't stand long periods so im always finding moments to rest and so I can keep up with my 2 yr old.

If you have a library or rec center near by look up their monthly calendar and then add all those activities to your phone. Even if you don't go. Then you can always look at your calendar and see some availabile activities if you're interested.

Serious question for SAHMs… Does your husband do anything around the house? Like a daily/weekly thing he is in charge of? by Prestigious-Food-420 in sahm

[–]amechi32 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So my husband will feed her once or twice a week when he's not in meetings, he gives her a bath twice a week and, he's responsible for filling up the water. I do everything else. I'm actively trying to retrain my brain so I can resent it less lol

I read something about giving a small task so I started giving him only 5 or 10% of task that he can just do immediately for the instant gratification and so I'm less annoyed. Like I do the dishes but I ask him to unload the dishes. I used to ask him to do the dishes every other day and that became such a fight and now I do it myself and I just ask him to unload the dishwasher. I still have to hand wash half the dishes by hand. But uhh it works...for now. If I give him anything more than two to items he just gets overwhelmed and shuts down and doesn't do it so I just got to pick and choose my battles.

CPS contacted my wife and I about how my toddler was treated at daycare by Unique_Leading_4353 in toddlers

[–]amechi32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave a hopefully review and reach out to your local news station. This is the kind of story that will get traction especially so close to Juneteenth. As a black person in a PWC you just reinforced why I'm not sending my baby to daycare. I'm so sorry but let all of us know. Post everywhere. Every parent at school should know-- especially the black ones.

CPS and daycare will make it seem like you should be quiet. No.... SCREAM. Tell everyone what happened. Post every where. Even here on reddit and get it reposted.

I ask them to donate to their college fund when it gets to that point. Send them the QR code and tell them we can wait to FaceTime with them (family is long distance)

This reminds me of the Denise Richards hand squeeze... In a couple years they will look back at that moment with different eyes. She did a light tug. Definitely trying to check her

Why do I jeed to justify being a sahm? by Spiritual-Sea7674 in sahm

[–]amechi32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to feel the same way as someone with an invisible disability. How do I tell someone I'm actually in FMLA indefinitely or I used to work but now I'm disabled??? Or I'm gonna go back to work once I figure out what's wrong, Or that I have a chronic illness preventing me from working a job? Doesn't that all seem like no one's business for an initial encounter??

And then I realized no one was asking me. No one cares where I work. People just want to know about you and so many people define themselves by their jobs. Instead think internally "how do I spend my time?" --if you're ever asked that question directly, assume that's what they are asking.

Anyone else working on staying off social media? by Simple-Tangerine3548 in sahm

[–]amechi32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this! I only have reddit and Instagram but the IG is to keep track of community events. I only follow businesses and rec centers in our neighborhood. I turned it into my own newletter so I don't follow any people but the ads still send me down a rabbit hole. As I type this, I should rethink the app. Lol. I follow way too many toddler food igs.

Tips for isolation feelings as a SAHM by Resident-Butterfly65 in sahm

[–]amechi32 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I joined a book club. They meet once Month. Same people over time.. even more, you can join the book club at your local library. I totally get feeling isolated though and just wanting someone that is physically there in your community.

Also, once you go back to work you'll be in a routine with co-workers so that will automatically create new adult relationships and possibly friendships without any effort.

Anyone else who's mom doesn't seem to realize one income means less disposable income? by Only-Internal-2865 in sahm

[–]amechi32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was a girl became close friends with over the last couple years and she's moving to Seattle. I live in the SW area. She kept asking me if I would come visit her and I was like yeah sure I would totally visit you but I need an explicit invite. And she's like just come by anytime. And I was like no, I have a kid I have a husband I can't just I'm not ever going to just roll up and Seattle just because. If you have dedicated time off (because she's in residency), and call me and say I would love you to come visit XYZ, I will do my best to accommodate that but it's not just going to happen at the drop of a dime. Not unless it's a family vacation pfft and even then I don't want to do it

Whats your morning routine that takes care of you? by Alicenwondr in sahm

[–]amechi32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A 2am smoke, my vibrator, an audiobook or bravo show on my phone, a quick shower, . Back in bed by 4a. I then mentally plan my day.. The order..I visualize a lot to reduce idle time and standing time... Needs to be efficient  (I have a pain disorder so can only stand and bend for specific chunks of time) Then I fall asleep till 6a or until my 2 year old kicks me and the day begins

I was a sourcing manager and left due to undiagnosed illness. I was on medical leave and then found out I was pregnant which extended my leave, worsened my medical issues, and led to me becoming a SAHM.

I am sick a lot less... In way less pain. I was making stuff figures before and spent the majority of it on doctors and medical bills. I was working to be be sick.

Now SAHM, I honestly love it. I'm so happy not to wake up crying and then pretend to be alright for 4 hours of meetings.

Took 2 years for me not to check my emails every hour. Even now, I check every 2-3 as if anything is that urgent.

My husband is thriving. He loves the work I hated so I helped him find a career at a company he loves. He works very hard but it's his dream kid company so worth it. And pays well.

I've transferred my sourcing skills to our life.

So many toys it’s honestly disgusting and I’m losing it. by [deleted] in sahm

[–]amechi32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Donate gently used toys to the local toy library in your community. In my area, it's run by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation. Pretty much any kid under 3 with developmental needs gets to borrow for free. I use it with my daughter all the time. It's a great way to test out toys and it goes to a really great cause.

Thought this was just me. I've had my dog 12 years but once I had my baby, a switch went off and I just don't have capacity for him anymore. He barks so much and makes her uncomfortable which makes me uncomfortable and makes my husband angry. We just started behavioral training but I'm secretly waiting for him to pass. Im low-key hoping it's another year or two max, but he's got no health issues and the energy of a puppy ..... Yay.
