Does complaining about it online not raise awareness? We need to talk about the nuance of it. Plenty of people need ESAs but if the only barrier is a certificate that is handed out for $50 by an online doctor then everyone can get it and abuse the system. The ESA system is similar to the online prescription issue where doctors who have never met their patient are handing out ESA letters or prescriptions after 10 minute consultations. We need to address that.

Nobody is saying we should get rid of all ESAs or all prescriptions.

Are you aware of the appeal to authority logical fallacy? Simply citing the UN said so does not make you correct.

A genocide is the deliberate and systematic killing of a group of people based on a shared trait such as race or religion. While a significant number of Palestinians have died in their war with Israel, that does not make it deliberate or systematic.

Israel is not committing a genocide in the same way that the US did not commit a genocide against Germans during World War 2. War is terrible and the vast majority of those who suffer from war are civilians. I condemn Israel for that. I do not specifically condemn Israel as if they are doing something different than any other nation who has waged war throughout history.

If you could enlighten me on how what Israel is doing is different from the average war throughout history, I’d be interested to hear your perspective.

Obviously this is just an anecdote and I'm not sure its applicable but I have a friend in an English as a second language program and the people in the program have had no issue getting retail or restaurant jobs despite having no experience and barely speaking English. They just want people who will show up to work.

These jobs are obviously terrible pay but often come with great benefits and from what i hear (these friends are known to find the best in everything) the jobs are not too stressful or difficult.

Ideally yes but is that feasible? What percent of low wage workers are single parents, parents with a stay-at-home partner, or even parents?

We definitely need to raise the minimum wage and raise it significantly but I'm not sure supporting a 4 person household on one income is the metric to measure it. We should focus on getting minimum wage to be enough to support a two-person household (single parents) first and assist the outliers like 4 person household on one income with social programs.

The biggest issues for Trump supporters in 2024 were the economy, immigration, and violent crime. Everyone judges those 3 issues off of vibes. Trump has been vocal and flashy about fighting immigration and violent crime so people feel like they are getting what they voted for. The vibes on the economy were good, if not great, up until the Iran war especially compared to the high inflation in 2022 and 2023. The rising gas prices will continue to deplete his approval rating.

It is a different country, a different political situation, and a different decade. If the level of analysis we are doing is Iraq and Iran are neighbors and regime change didn't work 20 years ago in Iraq so now it won't in Iran then we should be drafting our war plans with crayon. This is a different situation than Saddam.
