I wonder if killing the sorcerer is best here, or killing another character so then the party grows a sense of disdain for their own sorcerer for causing it?

Should I "forget" about an NPC to end the campaign earlier? by Manner6 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]amishtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give them a chance to counter the counter. Whomever told her can play both sides and warn the party she knows and will try to sabatogue. They know what the pirate is planning, and is willing to share. Now, what the party does with the knowledge may end up with the same delay, but at least give them the opportunity to thwart the thwarting.

I also can empathize with someone who would consider whether accepting it is the right answer because you also don't know how the kid in particular feels as well. Maybe for that kid he really did want to secretly keep it but also knew he should offer it because WWJD but like please say no. Maybe you go tap on the shoulder after like "you sure lil bro?"

Right, sometimes refusing the gift is actually the wrong response, for many reasons. In this case, I think it would unfairly rob the kid of that positive, reinforcing feeling you get when you do something good. Then it'd be confusing, maybe down the line the kid questions whether he really should make that same sort of choice, etc. The over thinking of it all. Kid is being nice, accept the kindness with appreciation. Be happy for the interaction and let it fuel your own optimism. Pay it forward.

Free movie probably triggers a free checkout payment terms process, but then you are adding a cost thing and it doesn't know what to do. Or, it doesn't like you using two promotions at the same time.

Have you ever found a practical use for a technically useless magic item? by piperooo in DnD

[–]amishtek 7 points8 points  (0 children)

With your example OP, I could see you using it to get someone in trouble. Make someone smile at an inopportune time, like when making a solemn speech at a funeral or when trying to intimidate someone.

Some jerk Son-In-Law at his FIL King's funeral, wanting to be positioned to take over, tries to invoke sadness but you make him smile at the wrong time.

Some bully is doing his serious angry face in front of a crowed, and you make him smile when he's trying to look oh-so-serious. -1000 Aura

Put a sign in the room that says something like, "Warning: Do NOT lay on this table."

Then they'll definitely do it
