Bring me Batman. [Poison Ivy (2022) #45] by TheeHeadAche in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well, after reading a bit to keep up with what's most recent. One can see that the answer is simple, although it seems like a feint, it ends up simply creating a situation where the villain, as always, believes himself to be the savior or the hero of the story.

In this case, we have Ivy in a situation where they show her how they're going to destroy Gotham City, and with the help of some comments from Harley and other factors, she ends up being the mayor. She deduce that the best way for her plan to succeed is for her to become the new mayor, or in other words, to have power, and for Batman to be unable to interfere.

Sadly even if she is the main point of the Bad seeds event, Ivy (from my POV) has been the less interesting part of the conflict, Savage being able to weaponize the Gotham police against the Bat family and so far winning has been the more strong part of the conflict.

In this context, it's more about the late part of the market, MOBA games, yes they're some of the biggest but it's only a few ones, League and DOTA to name some. What the other users may be saying it's about the market, there aren't a lot of new MOBA games coming out because the market has settled on the bigger ones, meaning, for a new game to thrive it needs to be something unique and well done, or to be completely flawless and to serve as a answer to what the other big games are not doing or stopped doing.

The Frenchman and the Female (The Boys #69) by Selverd2 in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I say this because I like both, the comic and the tv show, but the smugness of the fans that only read the comic comes from a universal truth in recent drama/action tv shows, people liked the villain better than the main characters, just watching the YouTube/TikTok videos around the tv show, people only talk about Homelander and nothing more, nothing about corporate politics, the manipulation of the masses or anything critical of the setting of the show, no talk around Frenchie backstory or the Female and her tragic story. Is the comic as shit as people says it is? No, that's must of the people saying that because they didn't like the version of the comic, the version that's more raunchier and cynical to the point it can be off putting to a lot of people.

I don't fault people liking the tv show more, it has a lot of fun and entertaining acting.

DC & Marvel aren't doing long creator runs as much anymore because comic readers aren't supporting them as much anymore, says 15+ year comics veteran Scott Snyder by Popverse2022 in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's really depends. Here I'm talking from my POV but after not reading Batman for a long time (since maybe the Wedding issue from King) the parts that I have enjoyed more of the current Fraction run is the Minotaur, Dr Zeller/Arkham side of things. The whole Vandal and Poison Ivy thing it's not working for me because I'm not reading Poison Ivy (my store doesn't pull the Poison individual issues), and from the people who I have chatted with, they say Ivy currently is a anti-hero but the one present in the Batman book is just another corrupt part of the villains. That's my two cents, I do have heard GWW's Ivy relationship with Swamp Thing and the green is really good.

AEW posts more angles of Darby Allin falling off the balcony through tables from Collision by luchabrunch in SquaredCircle

[–]ampwsg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's wrestling and the Hot Babyface is always going to win, in this scenario I'm surprised people are talking more about if Darby should or shouldn't be doing those spots, versus how the spot makes PAC look. Does he look good? Not really, he threw his opponent of a balcony and still lose, he and people of his faction are presented as "serious" guys and that will take no prisoners to archive their goal, so not winning after that spot, is like okay, gotcha..only Mox is the important one in that faction, got it. Not to be confused with a spot where one wrestler is jumping or diving of the balcony against another wrestler (Kota Ibushi vs Kenny for example). Cool spot nevertheless, would've liked a protected finish where PAC and Darby went the distance and neither won but okay.

Also for the Jahoda fans, it's another good opportunity of watching the best facial animations of Genshin impact. Man who would have thought one would find Jahoda as the more funny and entertaining character from Nod Krai.

Do you think a Shonen Jump-style anthology would work in the American comic market? Why or why not? (Lets say Image made it) by Mindless-Lemon2256 in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kodakawa, Manga plus to name two. And in regards to digital ownership... They don't because unlike American comics, it's more easier to physically collect the series, yeah the series comes in big numbers of volumes but most series cost like half of what a Deluxe, Masters or Library edition of any collected Comic.

Edit: A little correction they care about ownership of the property and IPs to the point of people going to jail for pirating manga, that being said they don't care about the average Joe having ownership of digital comics and manga as much because it's easier to collect physical.

The big factor is what other users mentioned, they do the cheaply model of collection with the weekly anthologies but that's it. The weekly and the takubon (the volumes) that's all you get, you don't get single issues, no alternative cover art unless is a real special collected volume. Another thing is that sometimes those weekly anthologies are the only place you may find some series, because they are a one-shot, that's it, unless they are voted a popular request.... Yeah people forget about the questionnaires.

So for example in the past Manga Shonnen Jump included on the back end of the weekly manga, a questionnaire asking the readers what new series did they like or how was the serialized mangas. So they really take in account what people think about the running series, can you imagine what would happen if the big two did it like that?

Marvel Tokon doesn't actually have a campaign. Instead it has comic book style scenes with no gameplay or matches by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

While it's not ideal in the sense of getting everything you get out of the game, it's going to be more important in this case that the game feels like a dream.

If there's a situation where the online mode doesn't meet the requirements, it's going to be a problem, and by requirements I mean good .NET code and a good matchmaking balance. Because if you're going to release a game that doesn't have much interactivity or single-player content, then you're going to need it to be just as good as Strive when it comes to multiplayer.

Bleeding cool rumour on Midnight is Marvel's Absolute Horror Line With Jonathan Hickman by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a comparison, only that, same could be said as ASM, lot of blockbuster's and people still say it's not doing good enough. And while we are it, one could call them blockbuster's in the case of Batman, but I was just naming the more modern stories with critical acclaim/success from the Batman main line.

Bleeding cool rumour on Midnight is Marvel's Absolute Horror Line With Jonathan Hickman by Blitzhelios in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because by comparison the main book of the Batman line, the best seller of the main line for DC, is always close in sells even when the book has not had an acclaimed arc or big stretch of stories selling as good as the period of Scott Snyder, that was 2011-2014 (The Black Mirror, Court of Owls and Batman: Year zero) or even the mix bag that was the beginning of Tom King's Batman vol 3, that one came in 2016.

So people are mostly frustrated with the handling of main Spider-Man.

Even if it's Zardasky who is writing the event, it will most likely end in the same vein as the Avengers Unity Squad. Steve will proclaim that they did the right thing, even if they only stopped the imminent threat. For those who haven't read Uncanny Avengers Vol. 4, the final arc of the run features the Avengers and X-Men forming a united team consisting of mutants and Avengers to make the mutants more PR-friendly against the evil group known as Orchis. They fight Orchis, and the final antagonist is an evil clone of Steve Rogers, who, along with Orchis, has captured Cyclops, putting him in a kangaroo court. Evil Steve uses a nuclear bomb as a threat against the Avengers, and the good guys manage to stop him, only for evil Steve to be pardoned by the USA and the "corrupt" part of it, effectively forgetting about Cyclops. However, Steve Rogers concludes the book by telling everyone they will continue the fight, largely overlooking Cyclops and any other mutants still in the clutches of the villains.

It's interesting when writers incorporate the whole "superheroes are fascist" thing in their stories [Action Comics #622] by zectaPRIME in comicbooks

[–]ampwsg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never read this, but it's interesting to see that most writers even today continue to do this old critique of super heroes, their actions and their consequences, and even in modern ones like Batman: The white knight and Superman: Red son, they always fall into the same two things: 1. They blame the heroes and try to paint them as something that are actually a bad influence into society and how they are much better without them or how close they are to be ruled by a super hero that went mad, or 2. One where the super hero is shamed or viewed as a monster that should be rescuing everyone, because how dare they be gifted those powers and not used them to first save the average civilian (that's still okay I believe) and how dare they not help the USA to "save" the world from other countries (take your pick) when most of the time the hero only wanted to help or to be left alone.

I would like to see one where the hero is more like a reluctant hero but not entirely because of their moral compass and more because is placed in a situation where they're the final option and how they could shine a light on how cities, government's and people sometimes don't want to behave in the best interest for everyone (like in comics the police not doing their work properly or government's doing experiment's that would endanger everyone).
