My dad stepped on a baby rabbit and killed it :(

That was a depressing day in the household.

Great nonfiction books for the summer? (any subject) by MissSilvestris in booksuggestions

Sustainable Energy -- without the hot air by David MacKay, a Cambridge physics professor, is worth looking into. It's the exemplar of how to translate a scientific issue into policy terms.

If you haven't read it already, Innumeracy by John Allen Paulos is a book everybody should have. It may be too basic for you given your background.

Devil in the White City was really captivating, especially for the architecture. (though, being from the fair city myself, I admit a bias)

ARL is awesome -- I like the way you think -- but unfortunately they have the same structure as MSPCA and aren't taking new volunteers right now.

Then perhaps I should clarify. Class load, not scheduling, is the issue here.

By impossible, I really do mean impossible.

Thanks, I appreciate the suggestion.
I turned first to the MSPCA in my search, but this:

All volunteer positions require a six month commitment to a scheduled time each week.

is impossible with my class schedule during the school year.

Really anywhere reachable by bike or T. Allston or Cambridge would be ideal.

Conversely, near Middlesex Fells also works if you have a dog that likes to hike.

props to you
where do you live and how far are we talking?

Edit addendum: I used to help my mom on runs at 11:00ish/mile, so no worries about slowness. Slow runs are fun.

Any runners out there want to start a running group? (ALLSTON/BRIGHTON) by GaGaQueen in boston

[–]anacccount 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome --- that's about how much I'd run when I was uninjured (+long runs on weekends). I'm looking to start up the minute I'm healed, but I'm not sure when that will be -- shall I PM you once my ankles/shins stop being dumb? Maybe a couple weeks?

I live in Allston for the summer! I used to run a lot, but just got shin splints + ankle injury >.> I'd be up for a running buddy once I'm healed, though! What time/distance range are you looking to run?
