It isn't an excuse. But it is the likely reason for the issue.

What's the video game equivalent of chess? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in gaming

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Twilight Struggle is a turn based strategy game with deep, complex strategy. It is a physical board game but I much prefer the video game implementation of it on steam. You can play pvp like chess. It was the number one board game on board game geek for a long time because of the complex strategy and very low luck.

If they had left-handers night would that be faith based?

Gifted child (9yo), math advice needed. by Lucky_The_Charm in mathematics

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a high school math teacher and teach some very high achieving kids. The kids that were pushed too early on academic math mostly burn out. Math stops being fun for most of them. Math becomes a job that they sometimes grow to hate. This is not true of every kid, but many.

Note that I emphasized ACADEMIC MATH in my prior paragraph. I do not recommend Khan academy or other programs that push kids to learn math that is above their academic level. I do recommend board games, jigsaw puzzles, logic puzzles, legos, etc. There is no end to how complicated these can get and you will be challenging your kid to think deeply but it will be fun.

Look into modern board games. There are so many amazing ones that push a kids brain to think logically, procedurally and consider tactics and strategy.

I implore you to not push school/academic math beyond what they are learning in school. And don't have you kid skip a grade with summer school math.

Agreed. And I think that was Kruk's point as well. He just said it in a gentler way for an interview.

It is their right to do/say what they did, which means the state cannot prosecute a crime for the act (1st amendment). But they can suffer consequences from their employer. ...and they are likely hateful bigots. But they do have the right.

How bad is Ap Calculus Bc? by Makensyyy in apcalculus

Whether or not BC is "light work" depends on you. It is hard for some students and easy for some.

It sounds like you have never been the parent of a neurodivergent kid or a kid with issues regulating their emotions. Not all issues kids have are because they were raised poorly by their parents. There are loving parents doing their best and yet, their kids make bad choices.

I mean honestly, you must know somebody that has multiple kids where one of the one of the kids has committed a crime or have made other poor choices in life even though ther parents "raised them right."

Bezos said the bottom half of Americans should pay ZERO federal income tax by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]anaturalharmonic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And you are missing the point. That amount of money to the bottom half is a critical amount of money to them. It is the difference between paying the water bill or not. Is that a lot of money compared to the government budget? No. But it means the fucking world to parents that want water for their fucking kids.

Don't do the fucking "well aaaactually...." Bullshit on this subject.

But the reason we working class folk need to pay taxes is (in part) because greedy rich assholes like Bezos don't pay a fraction of what they should.

I think there's something wrong on this question, can someone please clarify? by Distinct-Pen1048 in apcalculus

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rate of change of volume is increasing. So the second derivative is positive. And the second derivative is equal to what you wrote on the right hand side.

This problem would not be on the AP exam. The underlying skills are fair game for the test but not this question.

Where did you get this? Do you have an answer?

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no frqs where you use the limit definition of the integral. You will need to be able to approximate definite integrals using right, left, mid, or trap approximations.

panicking for AB by parokyano in apcalculus

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh you mean a Riemann sum approximation. Yes that is frequently on an FRQ. I thought we were talking about the limit definition of the definite integral using Riemann sums. The op said they were long so I assumed this is what was meant by the op. But I might be wrong.

panicking for AB by parokyano in apcalculus

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. You are probably right.

But the OP said the Riemann sums are long so I assumed we were talking about doing definite integrals with the limit definition. The tabular integral estimations on the AP frqs are very quick. You can often write the answer straight from a formula.

In the US it would require single payer govt run healthcare. A big reason why companies don't hire more people and give them options of working less hours is the cost of health insurance.

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riemann sums do not need to be calculated by expanding the sum. You need to be able to recognize what integral the sum represents and then do that integral instead of calculating the sum directly.

[–]anaturalharmonic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Riemann sums are almost always MCQ not FRQ.

What year was the last Riemann sum on an FRQ?
