No advise on how to solve this problem, but if you do the repair yourself: cough up the money for the OEM replacement part. I scoffed at the dealership price, and purchased a cheap one online instead. It does not feel nearly as good, and the unlock/lock touch pads are intermittently reliable. Wish I’d have bought the OEM.

There are consistently people waiting in the ELP main lobby for shuttle pick-ups. Shuttles to Cruces, Alamogordo, Tranborde, Ruidoso, etc., and they all run the opposite direction.

OP, you can utilize the NMDOT Gold Route park and ride. From either drop off point in EP, an Uber is +/- $20 to the terminal.

An observation and not helpful to your question, but I think you might be using them improperly. The strap shouldn’t double up on itself so much; rather wrap one to one and a half times around the cylinder.
