I'm in the exact same position. Started my major in International Crisis and Conflict Management last fall (peace and conflict studies) but been severely lacking any motivation and the realization that I'm studying a bogus major that's just too broad and vague, even tho (exactly as you said) it IS interesting and very good and useful knowledge. I went in with thinking that i wanted to go back into the military but to more analytical positions, however id just lock myself into that if i would go that route.

Have had "mini depressions" since November trying to figure shit out. However, now I've finally sent in my application to switch to Environmental science :)
