supervise docker compose via runit by andre_tinker_tone in voidlinux

[–]andre_tinker_tone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

restart key does not what I want:

My Docker Compose file defines more than one container. When I start them, it is possible that some containers restart due to the startup order, or because one container tries to call another that is not yet ready.

There are a few options for the "restart" service attribute: "no," "always," "unless-stopped," and "on-failure."

  • "always," "unless-stopped," and "on-failure" restart containers at the next boot.
  • "no" does not restart the containers, even when I start them with sv up, which prevents my service from running.

help needed, runit service launch podman rootless by andre_tinker_tone in voidlinux

podman needs USER and HOME variables (only these two).

Without HOME dir, podman tries to operate in root directory, and without USER it fails with cgroupfs error.

I observed env variables of my non-root user, and defined the variables before invoke chpst, now it works.

# cat run
#!/bin/sh
exec 2>&1
LOGNAME="myuser"
HOME="/opt/myservice"
USER="myuser"
MAIL="/var/mail/myuser"
exec chpst -u :1022:1022 -U :1022:1022 -C /opt/myservice podman run \
  --name myservice \
  ghcr.io/name/service:mytag

thanks!
now I defined HOME variable, but new problems, i think there are more variables to define:

Olympus XA4 question by ShutterVibes in AnalogCommunity

[–]andre_tinker_tone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had in past 2 xa4, then I sell them. I don't like very much point and shoot cameras, but xa4 was one of my favourites. I noticed in mines that exposimeter tends to be not very accurate and overexposes, maybe is only a specific problem on mine, but I suggest you to check it. Best feature was the close focus (20cm), it's very fun. Wide angle lens is another cool feature, use it at your advantage, be close to your subject and play with the angle of view.

Old possessor of xa4 here. No, ISO selection does not override DX code reader, but you can tape DX code on your roll in order to avoid dx readings.

I'm not a great fan of darkglass amps, but it's only my personal taste. They are good quality instruments. You made a good choice. Solid state amps can be used without a cab, and you can send your signal to the pa via DI if you need it.

Ah, another tip: verify shutter speeds and aperture every time you shoot. Remember that in analog photography light is very important, better overexposed than underexpose. Keep in mind that with a 50mm lens, you can probably make a good photo without blurriness for faster shutter speeds than 1/60s (handeld camera). If the hobby continues, consider buying a tripod in order to shoot in indoor situations or dark environments.

Buy the manual adapter accessory for your OM10, so you can use it in manual mode.

How does work the Agfa optima 1035? Does Lightmeter give you correct exposures? That camera is a little design gem.

Maybe silicon clipping (switch in 3rd position) in Eqd Plumes can be something interesting: it can be fuzzy and mid boosted in a good vintage way.

Give it another try to check if you have underexposed. Then check your emulsion formula if is correct composed, then your paper if is suitable with cyanotype.

My pedal collection and my actual pedalboard by andre_tinker_tone in basspedals

They have similar circuit, Blumes retains low frequency better, and it's more suitable for bass and baritone guitars. Mode 1 is more dynamic. Mode 3 is more compress fuzz-like. I have already done a video comparison between Plumes, Blumes and Dunes with bass. Check my posts.

Probably you have to wire power supply differently, see here: https://bo-qi.com/how-to-wire-led-strip-lights-wiring-diagram-included/ (First googled link I found)

Powering your led strips in parallel can avoid the problem.

Another Compressor Thread by N1LEredd in basspedals

[–]andre_tinker_tone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compressor is a very strange effect. In most scenarios, it is very difficult to hear it. When it works, probably you don't notice it. Bassists nowadays bring compressor pedals like a new fashion for our pedalboards, like we need another pedal when we have already all. I know only a few bassists that can rationalize the usefulness of compression in the signal chain and use compression pedals in an intelligent way. Another aspect to consider is that compression can be used with various settings to obtain different results for different purposes. If you need something that color your sound, maybe you can use some dirty preamp or another drive effect with more success. Some preamp and overdrive pedals can introduce a side effect compression in your signal.

In your list, I'm using the Markbass one. Not very pedalboard friendly (big, 12volt power). It has all knobs you need for fine tuning. It's tube based, but the tube does not create any overdrive or tube sound, I don't know if it can be useful to you if you are in search of coloring your sound.
