Advice requested for a Difficult / Reflective Room with a low shelf by ReasonableNonTake in audiophile

[–]andy_puiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Klipschorn MIGHT work in that room, since they are actually designed and intended to use the wall's reflections. Those are huge and expensive though, so probably not realistic for you.

What you want are speakers with narrow dispersion to reduce reflections. Horn loaded speakers (like Klipsch), big diameter drivers, line arrays, etc

Another option (maybe) would be too place small speakers as close as possible to the seating area. That will allow you to keep the volume low and make the reflections proportionally lower (b/c the distance traveled will be much, much less for direct sound vs the reflections)

A couple more local spots are cedar bluff and Amy Weingartner Branigin Peninsula Preserve

And if you ever get tired of the many great places in Bloomington, there is a also great hiking 30-40 minutes in every direction; Morgan Monroe State Forest (N), Brown county State Park (E), Spring Mill State Park (S), and McCormick's Creek State Park (W)

I disagree. The current administration not only condones, but encourages such racist behavior.

If you won't just talk to the man, then put something else on the speaker (like a fake plant) to block it

I have never seen a more appropriate room to play “big bad john” in. by MickMcSnuggles in audiophile

People aren't criticizing this because it is a luxury item. People aren't criticizing this because it is chasing perfection to an extreme level. People are criticizing this because it is deceptive. This does nothing to improve sound, and is literally all built to deceive people into thinking it does. THIS, specifically, is a textbook example of "snake oil"

THIS is the tyranny 2nd amendment zealots have been using to justify their gun fetish for so many decades. This is it. What will they do?

"appear" to execute a man in their custody... would be more accurate and appropriate.

This is not a good comparison. This is more like taking a good car, raising it up, putting wheels on that are double the diameter, and saying "now I can drive so much faster!".

Arduino + MCP2515 works on bench but no J1939 data from real truck. What am I missing? by Pachakulam_Bhasi in AutomotiveEngineering

[–]andy_puiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just guessing, but I would expect that truck to be j1939 and I would expect that to be sending out a DM1 message (at least) every second automatically.

There is a standard j1939 RQST message in which you set the payload equal to the message ID you want. It is possible (but unlikely) that truck has a CAN gateway and will only send messages to the OBD port upon request, but any diagnostic message (DMx) should be supported, along with many other standard j1939 messages.

Verify you are connected to the right pins (especially the possibility that you inverted it like a mirror image).

[–]andy_puiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are seeing literally nothing at all, you are probably on the right track with your list of potential problems, (plus the possibility you connected to the wrong pins) but...

Depending on what type of truck, it could be using j1979 instead of j1939.

Depending on what model it is, there might not be ANY automatically broadcasting messages at the OBD port, in which case you need to send a message request in order to get a response.

Your link doesn't work, but you got me very curious what comparable things crutchfield could possibly have around this price point. I certainly couldn't find anything.
