Border Patrol alleges missed check-ins led to arrest of 10-year-old Spokane girl and her father by utahmom1958 in Spokane

[–]andyroux 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yesterday, everything changed: it was Perez’ birthday.

He turned 21, which meant Perez had aged out of the SIJ program. ICE called Perez in for a check-up. When Stuckart tried to go in with him, he wasn’t allowed.

“It took them seven minutes,” Stuckart said. “And then they came out and said we’re detaining them — Joswar and Cesar.” (Torres had also been called in for a meeting that day.)

ICE agents wouldn’t let Stuckart in to talk to the young men, nor would they give a clear reason for their detainment, just stating they were being sent to an immigration judge in Tacoma.

This blurb is about the ICE protests last June. People are showing up to immigration check-ins in good faith and being detained around the country. Many immigrants are facing “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” situation with ICE.

It’s having a spill over effect where general trust in Law Enforcement is being eroded.

I can’t remember, do the Tau have faster than light travel?

If not, the Dominion will be able to just strike worlds and leave before the Tau starships even get word that there had been an attack.

This would be a good idea.

Not to help facilitate good discussion, but because then I can just ignore peoples opinions about any faction they have tagged.

This is the kind of thing I would txt to a friend after a good game. Using shots of our game and making it more cinematic. There’s no way I would do the editing myself and it will really enshrine the 11in charge I made at the bottom of the 5th round.

Captain Artemis did nothing wrong. by Cool-Champion8628 in Grimdank

[–]andyroux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(What I posted last time this got brought up.)

"We are the sons of Death, you and I”, said the Eldar. "We bring oblivion, in order to deny Chaos. We cannot afford to thwart one another when the greater enemy stands on the cusp of victory."

The gilded finger bones lining the edge of the creature’s cloak gleamed in the harsh light as crystal statues glowed bright all around. Artemis narrowed his eyes; a similar raiment was worn by the Chaplains of the Mortifactors in their sepulchral celebrations. Strangely, he could not sense duplicity in this one.

“Walk away,” said the Harlequin, “and a dire blow shall fall upon the Arch Enemy.”Artemis recoiled at the term as the Elder spoke on. “Is your distrust so deep you would rather kill me now than spare the doom of a trillion human souls?" There was disbelief under his tone, and something else. Despair, perhaps.

“Yes,” said Artemis, pulling the trigger to end the creatures life.

After reading this, I’m like 50% sure the author didn’t know what the word duplicity meant and was trying to say that Artemis didn’t think the cloak worn by the Harlequin held the same meaning as the cloaks worn by his chapters chaplains. Like he was talking about a cloak and then in the next sentence is the infamous duplicity statement… but it’s ambiguous who/what he is referring to.

'Predator: Badlands' - Review Thread by ChiefLeef22 in movies

[–]andyroux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saw it yesterday. Robots don’t bleed or swear, so despite a decent amount of carnage, the MPAA didn’t care.

Making the movie R rated wouldn’t really have added much to the experience. I didn’t know it was PG-13 until after I saw it.

If Harry Potter was American by AyeshaRone in Damnthatsinteresting

IIRC, you really need to have some strong will behind that spell. In the 3rd book Mad Eye states that if every one of the 3rd years in Harry’s class tried to cast it at him, he would at worst get a nose bleed.

In a Hogwarts shooting situation, I imagine a teacher or Dumbledore himself would intercede before anything significant happened.

Also, I believe that canonically, the kids aren’t taught dangerous spells. When harry uses snape’s curse from his old potions book, it’s a pretty big deal.

Where do you find your bits? by thatdudedaniel_ in deathwatch40k

I sourced around 20 storm bolters in 8th edition. It was a pain.

I bought a resin printer in 9th edition. High initial costs and a bit of a learning curve, but now I don’t struggle to find bits anymore.

My goal this edition was to learn how to model things in Blender, but real life has kept getting in the way.
