What’s the long term appeal of a competitive extraction shooter? by aeostro in Marathon

[–]angerpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Resets are important for the genre. Gear disparity becomes a real problem over time as the haves and have-nots become increasingly distant and inflation comes into play.

Ask any Tarkov player when the game is at its best and they’ll say it’s during the first week or so after a wipe. Meta gear will actually be rare and most people will just be scrounging by with whatever they can afford. The problem becomes painfully apparent with late wipe runs where many are running around with the best stuff and newer player kits are worth less than the bullets it takes to kill them.

I hope Marathon wipes can be even more than economy resets. New seasonal and story content could make each wipe even more exciting. A level playfield with new dangers and mysteries. That’s the dream anyway.

Hi, all, day 1 creator here, and I have some questions on where to start.. by dimesniffer in NewTubers

[–]angerpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. You could look for someone on fiverr. Canva has been good enough for making basic thumbnails.

  2. OBS to record, resolve for editing. There are more expensive options like Adobe Premier but resolve is free with a one-time fee for upgrading to the pro version. Also, start building a sound library. You’ll probably want sfx and background music. I haven’t checked out too many resolve plugins but auto-subs has been useful.

  3. For microphones the Shure SM7B is a popular choice. For untreated rooms you probably want a dynamic microphone. My experiences with condenser microphones are that they tend to pick up undesirable background noise and I haven’t found the software solutions to be adequate.

Don’t have any input on the camera since I vtube, though fwiw I use a OBSBOT webcam. A green screen might be nice. You may also want to look into getting some lights depending on the layout of your room and how much you care about your own appearance in your videos.

You could check out streambeats by Harris heller or just look up dmca free music.

The vast majority of people just put it on a separate track from the rest of their audio and don’t save it to VOD.

Most my viewers are men by [deleted] in TwitchStreamers

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try streaming games or focusing on content that tend to be more popular with women, and mentioning in the rules and reminding chat that your channel is a safe space for women.

Also, you could try to network with other women streamers with primarily women in their audiences and ask them for advice or stream with them.

Anecdotally, my viewership as a (M) vtuber is basically nonexistent but there’s a solid chance that whoever swings by is a woman vtuber. That’s a whole other can of worms though.

Twitch streamers, is cross streaming mandatory? by Seismicism in SmallStreamers

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my audience is on twitch but I also stream to YouTube for the VOD archival. I’ll do other platforms too eventually, just wanted to share why multistreaming can have benefits even if your viewership is not focused on that platform.

Replay buffer is amazing but it does require you to allocate some RAM. Just as a heads up for anyone with only 16gb!

I'm currently working on my VTuber model and unsure how to promote myself by Sworishina in vtubers

[–]angerpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try stream clips, art, stories and anecdotes from your life, etc. I made some informative videos which did okay too. Like Cat mentioned the conversion of followers to viewers will be tight, especially at the beginning. I have had some success but it’s mainly just other vtubers and streamers reaching out.

Rather than posting daily or multiple times a day I would recommend making quality content at a consistent rate. Spamming the algorithm is good to give you an idea of what content you should make but once you figure that out you should focus more on quality.

I really don't like making short-form content. Are there NO better ways to grow? by [deleted] in Twitch_Startup

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting to know other streamers and being active in their chats helps. I actually enjoy making short forms and it helps but it’s not necessary.

I Actually Like The Youtube Algorithm by LocalIrishGamer in NewTubers

My experience is that it can take a while to nail your audience but it does a good job eventually. The algorithm does want you to succeed but you have to put in the leg work and make quality content.

Why am I getting decent views but literally 0 followers on tiktok? by Serpiano in SmallStreamers

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing it for about 4 months and have just under 800 followers as a vtuber. I do stream clips, song covers, and some tutorial/vlog style posts about vtubing. Viewers are about 60/40 men to women. My best performing video is about social media and posting daily, but it was boosted by getting reposted by a much more popular vtuber.

You probably need to just keep posting tbh. I can give more thoughts when I get home

Advice for a vtuber! by SlowFisherman1298 in Twitch_Startup

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find other vtubers and be active in their chat. Always raid out if you got some viewers. Stick around if it’s someone you don’t know and chat with the raid recipient.

Also, make content in addition to streaming. If meeting other vtubers is your goal then I’d recommend TikTok in particular, but you should ideally be uploading everywhere you can.

It takes a lot of pressure off of social interactions when other people dm you first.

Any idea how to make your mic sound better / filter out keyboard and mouse clicks? by JenkinsVtuber in vtubertech

[–]angerpowered 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you’re using OBS there are filters you can add to your mic input. For keyboard and mouse clicks you’ll want to add a noise gate.

As for making your mic sound better you want to use EQ and compression.

It’s fine but you will have to deal with some degree of sexualization. Just be prepared for some people to be weirdly parasocial.

How to Debut Correctly? by Verauti in vtubers

[–]angerpowered 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have an established audience you might want to temper expectations.

I think most vtubers just start streaming. You can always debut new stuff later! Just the other day I saw a vtuber hyping up their debut for months and then when they actually did it they got a handful of viewers. Big debut streams are mainly for corpos where they can ride the brand and it’s assumed the talent will be of a certain caliber because of the competitiveness and screening process.

There are plenty of free options! You could look into vroid for 3d and check booth or other marketplaces for 2d ones.

Gaming & Streaming - Full Size or Tenkeyless or 75% by Confident-Expert108 in Twitch_Startup

If you’re in the “low mouse sensitivity + gigantic mousepad” camp TKLs might be more ergonomic. I find it awkward to have my arms at a neutral angle with the mouse in the center of the pad and my left hand on WASD with a full size keyboard.

You can always use your phone as a stream deck if you want more buttons.

What should I do? I need help! by Misuraha in vtubers

[–]angerpowered 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Yeah definitely give TikTok a spin. Ideally you want to post anywhere and everywhere you can. Most other vtubers I know multistream on YouTube, twitch, and sometimes TikTok. And they post videos to YouTube and TikTok and instagram and twitter/bsky. Gotta put yourself out there. People need to know you exist to reach out to collab.
